I am about due for new hearing aids. I’m curious to those who are wearing rechargeable hearing aids, how do you like them. I’m not talking about over the counter volume enhancers or ear buds. I’m talking about bona fide hearing aids that you have to get from hearing specialist. I appreciate your input.

My wife has Phonak rechargables. She definitely prefers them over using batteries. However, make sure you get some with a good warranty, she's on her second charger.

Can't help with rechargeable versus replaceable batteries but I wanted pass on story about Costco hearing aids. On a recent trip with our truck I put my hearing aids in the center cup holder of the truck. The granddaughter gather up the trash from the console after we ate at McDonald's and put it in the trash. You guessed it she tossed my hearing aids.

Costco hearing aids come with a three year guarantee that covers defects, damage and loss for 3 years. My hearing aids are 2 years old and they ordered me a new set for free.

Current ones are Starky rechargeable. Love the rechargeable part. Never owned battery types as these are my 1st HA's.
IMO it's about as easy as a rechargeable cell phone. They hold a charge for several days depending on usage. I have a small USB/120V charger that the HA's set in. Super simple. Would never do batteries.

The VA set me up with ReSound Lynx rechargeables. They are behind the ear and have a case that they sit in to recharge, and it is actually self contained, I charge it and it will keep the hearing aids charged for 3-4 days before I recharge it. there is 3 LEDs on the back that indicate it's state of charge, and 5 LEDs under the lid that tell you the hearing aids state of charge. I have never had either hearing aid go lower than 2 leds, and that was a very long day. Resound also has an app that allows you to set up different environmental profiles for noise filtering etc., they are also automatically Bluetooth compatible with Apple and there is a interface for for Android phones so you hear your phone tablet etc in the hearing aids. There are also remote mic/adapters that use Bluetooth to send direct to your hearing aids, I have one I use with my computer, TV, Metal Detector, and sometimes the wife LOL.

I don't think I would ever use regular battery hearing aids.

I'm on my third set of hearing aids all from Costco. First set took batteries which I will never do again. Second set was rechargeable and I had no issues. Now my upgrade is having a phone app which gives different options for tone, volume and environment. The app will give me battery state and also turn on a TV adapter so everyone else doesn't have to get blasted out for me to hear. The biggest bonus in my opinion is hearing my phone through the hearing aids and no longer holding it to my head. Now when I walk in the morning I listen to a pod cast or FM radio. Before obtaining these new ones I wore the others part time. Now I won't leave home without them.

I also have the Starkey rechargeables. They do occasionally run out of charge if I wear them more than about 18 hours in a day and also do a lot of streaming through them.

The bluetooth feature allows phone conversations through the hearing aids, along with streaming music and podcasts etc from my iPhone. The quality isn't as good as my Bose noise cancelling headphones, but it is convenient. I also can adjust volume using my apple watch.

I previously had a set that used disposable batteries. I would not want to go back to that design.

all these hi tech hearing aids are digital. I've tried but can't adjust to them. I have two somewhat old BTE analog hearing aids, although I only wear 1 in my left ear, the other a back-up. natural human hearing is analog. yep, I change/keep a supply of 675 size batteries. no one makes analog hearing aids, apparently there is not enough profit for them.

My wife has rechargeable earring aids from ReSound also. This is her third or fourth pair of hearing aids but her first one that are rechargeable. They are also Bluetooth enable and the volume can adjustable from her phone.
The hearing aids must either be in her ears or in the recharger case, they can be turned off if needed.

She has stated she will never go back to changing batteries again for her hearing aids. But they are not cheap, I think they cost us north of 5K for them.

This X3 except mine are Resound One instead of Linx and not through the VA.

I sweat a lot and I love the rechargeable over the battery. With batteries when I sweated the hearing aids would quit working until they dried out. With the rechargeable I have zero issues sweating. I will never go back to batteries.

I also love being able to bluetooth with my phone and I also have the Bluetooth adapter for my TV and one for my laptop.

I got my Phonac from VA. 1st set was battery and I'd get 4-5 days on a battery. Quick and easy to replace. This new set is rechargeable and they only last about 12-13 hours then they have to be recharged. I prefer the batteries since they last longer, batteries are small and I can carry a few weeks supply of batteries in a small space. If in the course of a day the battery dies, I can quickly replace and go on my way. With my rechargeable I have to carry a charger on trips and daily recharge the things. Just my opinion.

I have been using Bluetooth Starkey HAs since 2014 when the Apple compatible Halo came out. Being able to pair with my phone is a must. I also hear some of the new HAs can pair with your phone and iPad. That would be nice.

I'll add something to my reply. Mine also pair to the phone, I phone 11, and can make adjustments, etc. Calls can go to the phone which is nice as at least my part of the conversation is private but the app is fragile and has a hard time holding position. It jumps to HA to internal and back and that breaks up the conversation, like a partial dropped call. When it works, great, when not bad. For me to adjust volume using the phone is a techy gadget of dubious value. In 1/10 the time, I can push the button on the HA itself to adjust. There is a TV attachment which is nice but has limitations too. When attached to the TV in the digital audio port as I recall, TV sounds go to the HA, and volume HAS to be adjusted by the phone app. Doesn't adjust or mute with the TV controls.
