Recycled my storm damaged awning today
Back in June we had our 18' awning damaged in a storm. I left it out & did not tilt it. My mistake. It won't happen again. Insurance covered the cost of replacing the awning and all is well with the RV now.
So since the fabric was still in good condition my DW had a great idea to hang it in the garage to use when I am sandblasting, sanding, painting or just generally making a lot of dust in the shop area of our garage. So we attached the awning to one of the beams that go from front to rear that separates one of the bays from the other 2. We designed a pulley system that will roll the awning up and store it beside the beam when not in use. When we bought our MH it did not have awnings over the slide outs. We bought & installed awnings. The awning kit came with a track that the awning slid into to attach it to the MH. The MH already had this track installed, so I put the extrusions away for a future use. Well that use came today, we used the extrusion to hold the awning up to the beam, installed a pvc conduit with a cut in it from one end to the other to the bottom of the awning. This worked quiet well.
I could use 2 more sections of damaged awning 10' long x 8' or longer to finish out the front of the bays. We usually hang a tarp from one end across the front then down along the side to the garage doors. Now I only need to do the front section.
If anyone has an old awning they replaced & would like to get rid of it I would be willing to take it off your hands for a reasonable price pd to you.
