I am curious how others set their refrigerator up while going down the road, do you run it on LP gas or turn on the inverter and run it on AC power?

I run my inverter and the frig. on automatic (AU) and it chooses to run on propane (LP). Then when I plug in it switches to electric (AC).

Unless your Meridian is wired differently than my Journey, you can't power it from the inverter. Some years the frig was connected to the inverter and some years it was not...'04 it was not, at least on the Journeys.

Supposedly there were very few years that the 'frig' was routed through the inverter. It draws enough current that it will pull the batteries down in nothing flat, when dry camping.

We almost always run the fridge on LP when traveling. The only exception is when it is extremely hot and the generator is running to power the roof A/C. Then the fridge runs on 120 volt.

We always run on inverter to save propane.

Please don't ask if it is safe to use LP while running down the road - this is worse than a political discussion.

John,
Did you re-wire your coach to include the Fridge on the inverter or do you have the all-electric option..Most inverters only power the ice-maker.

I too run mine on the Inverter. I used to run it on LP but, although I was pretty good about it every now and then I'd forget to turn off the refrig and turn off the LP at the tank when I'd pull in to refuel. After looking at a couple of those pictures where a couple different moho's exploded at gas stations I decided to not take the chance.

Ours will run off the inverter also which is stock wiring from the factory. Even with the fridge on, battery voltage is always charged going down the road. We can even use the crockpot if we wanted to.

Do not run mine, turn it off just prior to getting underway, turn it on LP when we stop, but again turn it off prior to underway. Holds internal temp fine, only goes up a couple of degrees in really hot weather, when traveling the doors remain shut 99% of the time.

We always run the generator when we travel. It uses less than a gallon an hour and we run the refrigerator on automatic so it runs on electric while we travel. With the generator on we can run the heat pumps or the air conditioners while traveling.
