Refrigerator panels -- anyone make their own?
Has anyone changed out the black panels on the norcold with somthing like a wood panel or a steel sheet?
Just thinking of future projects... a steel sheet would be nice to be able to put magnets on .. but a wood panel would dress up the unit.
I did not get the option for wood panels as they wanted 350.00 for them and how hard can they be to do over..

Made freezer door panel from cork bulletin board material so I can display grandbaby pics and change them often. Made the lower door from insulated material that "appears" to be diamond plate like truck accessories to better hold the temperature in warm weather. Can never have too much insulation. Trust me, far less than that $350 you mentioned. And much less weight than the original heavy wood panels.

Where would one purchase steel sheet? I have not had much luck even finding manufactured panels to fit.

Places like homedepot sell sheet metal that would probably work. I am thinking a vinyl stick on sheet or paint if I go that route or maybe even paint it and then glue on some fabric.
Cork on top and metal panel on bottom ... hmmm some good ideas.

I went to my local sheet metal store and took the wood panel doors of the fridge with me.....2 pieces of 1/32" stainless steel cut to size and used spray adhesive and glued them onto the wooden panels....60$ total and I now have a cool stainless steel fridge will send pictures if you wish...

It looks great. I'm sure it's very satisfying to be able to say you did it yourself, and it was inexpensive. As a dealer option, they would probably charge you $300 - $500.

Thank you for the offer. I will have the 800 series though so they probably wouldn't fit.

I'd like to get a couple three of the door shelfs for the Norcold 1200 if you don't mind. My phone number is 970-217-7438. Thanks

I'm finding the answers to my own questions. Lowes has 1/8" oak veneer in sizes large enough to do my fridge doors.
