Got tired of dealing with wheel simulators, so i removed. Cleaned up and painted wheel white and axle black. I like the look. Easier to add air and check tire pressure now.

Good touch with painting the wheel nuts black, the combination looks good.

Some folks have used center caps to dress up things a little. But now that you cleaned and painted the hubs/axles, I think you're done!

Ford E-series hub caps instead of wheel simulators

OP,
Looks good. saves weight, stops squeaks, eases maintenance.
No downside here.

The white paint looks nice and clean.
As a side note I will be glad when the black wheels go out of fashion.

Hmmm. My wheels are in nice shape under the simulators. I took the simulators off once and stepped back for a look. I immediately thought "farm truck!" and put the simulators right back on. I like them much better that way. I found some new ones on an auction site for REALLY cheap. That cemented it for me.

I went a little more dressy with these caps from pacific dualies . Makes frequent air pressure checks far less hassle

Curious, what were you having to deal with?

Granted, I do have to remove the rears on our rig to make tire pressure checks but that's very easy to do. Of course I could always extend the valve stems and then never have to take them off, except when changing tires.

OR, you could try these if you're into hypermiling.

Mine came with the motorhome and I don’t think the fit was good. So, they were a little noisy and adding and checking air was a bit of a chore.

In the late sixties we referred to these as “moon covers”
