We always want to take the motorhome when we can. However, there are just some times when it's more practical to get in the car and stay in hotels.
First,, boondocking in parking lots is not something we would want to routinely do. That would nix it for us unless the plans included staying most of the nights in nice campgrounds. The car is much easier to manage and more affordable to drive around if you're going to be seeing the sites. Renting a car at the airport is easy. Another thing, it'll be nice in the hotel not having to worry about running the genset (if it has one) for ac or heat. The bath in the class c will be itsy bitsy compared to the hotel. You will have to figure out where to fill the fresh water tank and dump the holding tanks when they fill up. Like you, i wouldn't want to have to buy cooking and sleeping supplies for just those two weeks.
My goal, if we aren't in the MH, is to find hotels that cost less than $100 a night. I have no idea what they run in the area you're going to be in so that may be too low. I do know that staying below the $100 is usually easy, as long as we aren't in a touristy area. I'm sure it is higher in the general NYC area. Car rental, haven't done that in ages, but have a feeling it will be pretty high in the NYC area too. If you don't already have your tickets, then it might pay to try a travel site and see what it would cost to bundle air and car rental. Would include hotel if you're not planning on moving around each day. Combining usually makes things quite a bit cheaper.
Weighing everything, i'm thinking you will come out cheaper with the motorhome. But imo, it'll be less inconvenient and maybe not worth it. You'll have to decide for yourself...
