So, the answer is not as simple as you may think. age, miles, use, non-use, type of use, storage conditions, area of country, inflated properly throughout current life, proper care?…..and lots more. Fact is you probably cannot answer most if any of these questions. Personally I will not drive on tires older than two years old that I did not own….and even then it’s a crap shoot and requires much analysis. One run severely under pressure will cause case damage that you cannot see…that could be day 1. If it a motor home, new steers for me no matter what…they can kill you!. RVing is not cheep…. Used RVs bring lots of unknowns. Tires are an easy unknown to remedy…. You must ask yourself…as Dirty Harry would say…”Are you feeling lucky”?. Are you concerned for the lives and safety of yourself, family, friends, otheres on the road, you RV? Let your conscience be your guide…

Inspections tell very little. Long term storage, low running pressure, etc are nearly impossible to detect.

Lots of good information here.

When I bought my current motorhome 14 years ago, it was 3 years old, stored outside, and only driven 500 miles to a location, then a week later 500 miles back. I never thought about changing the tires. I waited until they were 10 years old then had them changed. The tire dealer gave me $50 per tire back saying he would sell the 10 year old tires to truckers who would put them on trailers for another 10 years or so.
