Replace Valve Stem, not core

Do you have to remove the tire from the rim to install a new valve stem? I am not talking about the core that screws out with the little tool? It is a tag tire with a concave opening toward the observer.

Normally yes but there are "emergency" valve stems that can be installed from the outside without tools and are popular with the off road crowd. I keep a couple of these in my Jeep https://colbyvalve.com/ They also make a permanent valve that installs with a socket wrench.

Yes.....it has to be pulled through from the inside out. You don't have to dismount the tire to do it, but you have to break the sidewall bead and have the strength and room to replace the old one.

Your 22.5" rims on your DP use a solid brass stem that is secured by a nut from the inside. No the tire does not need to be removed from the rim, but the bead must be broken and tire compressed enough to get a hand inside and screw on the nut, then tighten with a wrench.

Those look like they'd be rough to use to add air unless you took the tire off.

I believe the nut is on outside of rim.

I figured this would be the case. The reason that I asked the question is that the last two times I have checked the pressure on this tire it has had a runaway leak. The first time it surprised me and by the time I found a new core all the air was gone. The second time, a couple months later while preparing for a trip, I was prepared and was able to install a new core valve right away. The second core was a mostly brass looking item instead of silver. I bought these when I thought moisture in the tire might have corroded the silver one. During the second blow I used a tool to clean and refresh the stem's threads. At no time after each core replacement did the tire leak.

I am getting ready for another trip and the coach is at a repair facility fixing a couple of items. They could pull the tire and replace the stem just in case.

Before I ask then to do it, I am going to check the air and see what happens...but will probably get it changed anyway.

Weird and intermittent problems really PMO.
