Required to sign a photographic waiver

Hello Everybody,

I made a reservation for a few days this coming week at a campground that my wife and I have stayed at many times.
This campground was an old family owned park for many years but was recently sold and is now one of the big chain campgrounds.
After my wife made the reservation I was sent an email with seven pages of forms to sign most of which don't apply.
However one of them is an "Image and Audio Release" which they say is required.

Has anyone had experience with this before, can a campground deny your stay because you refuse to sign something like this?

Thanks

Interesting.

I know of one RV park bought out near us and we quit going there because they jacked the price up from $45 a night to $90 a night. They now own two parks in the area...it's in wine country.

Let us know how you make out.

It's so weird being the same age as old people.

I have never experienced an image release. Seems a bit strange to me, although I have read about some off the wall lawsuits in the past. So I imagine they are just protecting themselves.

I guess if you donít want your photo in their advertisements or on their website then donít sign it. Youíll have to ask the campground if you can still stay there even if you donít want your image used by them.

I imagine this is a release so they can use your image or the image of your rig and your audio for whatever purpose they deem fit. It's your call but if I got that much paperwork to stay at a campground I wouldn't. My question is what are they trying to do? Your call.

Welcome to the forum.

You are joining a good group of folks here with good information to share. Read the various threads here and ask questions as they come up or add information if you can.

I have never seen anything like this and I would probably not sign it.

Good luck and enjoy the adventure!

Am I understanding that they want everyone to pre-approve in case they want to use images for advertising? I've never been asked to do that. Seems a more neighborly thing to do is ask at the time they take the pic. But what do I know.

If this is what it is about, is the form giving blanket approval or does it specify what if any limits might apply to images, videos, sound clips. If it is blanket, I think I would raise a stink.

BTW, no one should ever be compelled to provide blanket approval for anyone to use images of their underage children.

On the other hand, if I'm completely misunderstanding this, I take it all back! Haha.

Did you say 7 pages? I think you can buy a campground with less paperwork.

when they tell you to take your clothes off before entering you will understand the image release.

Itís three paragraphs long and I have to initial each one.
The first one gives my consent for them to do whatever they want.
The second is acknowledgement that itís solely for the benefit of them.
The third releases them forever from any liability that could come from them taking my picture.
And then I have to list the names of everyone in my party.

Well, I have no real issues per se with someone wanting to use a pic of us and our TT, particularly if I know what is in the pic. But this seems heavy handed and intrusive. I would stay somewhere else for no other reason than I would find their policy is irritating. But that is just my preference and of course others should do whatever they are most comfortable with.

That is pretty heavy handed just to spend a few days in a campground.

Common for commercial use of video or photos.

When I sent in a video to Americaís Funniest Videos, they sent me a 30 page contract and release. The contract and release had to be signed by everyone in the video or if their voice was in it.
Also, Storm Chasers wanted a YouTube video of mine and sent me a similar contract and release.

Put some big KOA stickers on your RV windows, and buy some KOA shirts and wear them while there. Your images wont be used. As long as its not a KOA CG.
