Roof AC

One of my roof AC Units blows cold air but it cycles and begins to blow warm air then cycles again and back to cold air....keeps repeating this. Any idea what causes this? Thanks

Need more info. Make model of RV type of AC unit on roof under floor. Look at your load meter and see what the amps is reading. It could be as a simple loose wire bad compositor.

I just had that happen on ours. Turned out to be the compressor on the ac. No repair. Replace complete unit only.
I hope you get better news.

Run an amp meter on the unit. Mine should be about 17 amps and I was drawing close to 30 just before it shut down and started blowing hot air.

Have you cleaned the coils and filter?
Is it freezing up?

It is probably freezing up internally. Most roof units have a freeze (temperature) sensor to detect that and automatically turn the compressor off while maintaining air flow (fan). When the freeze condition clears, it goes back to cooling again. A freeze up can be caused by already chilled air getting sucked back in the intake (a ducting problem), or by low refrigerant in the compressor or other internal problem.
