We have a 2019 45' American Coach Dream. I'm looking for suggestions for roof treatment or coating that will prevent chalking that runs down the side of the coach after several rains despite roof cleaning. The roof is in good condition other than the chalking. Does anyone have experience with Crazy Seal? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I used a pour on liquid I got from an RV dealers store. Don't remember the name, but I think it was a Thetford product. It worked for a couple years before needing another treatment. I goes on easily, spreads out with a foam scrubber, dries.

"ProtectAll, a product from Thetford, coats your RV's rubber roof with an anti-static polymer that helps prevent road grime and other contaminants from sticking. Not only does it protect your rig's roof membrane, but also helps reduce chalking — the powdery substance that leads to black streaks."

That's just one of many products that all do the same thing. Prevent chalking. I think Crazy Seal might be overdoing it.

What kind of roof do your have? EDPM? Fiberglass? TPO?

The roof on an American Coach is fiberglass (filon sheeting) and is painted. It's the paint that is shedding dirt and chalking. You can stop it temporarily by cleaning it well and applying a floor wax, but don't expect more than 2-3 months of relief.

The longer-term fix for chalking it to re-paint it, which isn't all that difficult. I did mine in about 3/4 of a day (two coats); washed it, wiped with liquid sandpaper to clean/prep the surface, and brushed on two coats of Dicor's Fiberglass Roof Coat. A marine deck paint is an alternative coating that works well.

My roof wasnt leaking. It just looked like it was starting to get a little dry rotted. Not sure what the correct name is but its like a giant sheet of rubber. I bought some lifetime rubber roof coating at lowes. It was really expensive. Im thinking it was over $350. I cleaned the old roof with a sprayer and a mix of bleach and water. I romoved about everthing i could off the roof, (vents, air-conditioning) i used a brush and a roller and put a generous coat over the rubber membrane. It turned out really well other than a couple small bugs that landed on it before drying. Its only been about a year but is holding up well so far.
