Route 66

My wife and I are planning to drive from Chicago to Phoenix next month and taking in as much of the old route as possible. Any suggestions for maps, must-sees and even spots to store our RV in the Phoenix area, will be welcomed. Thanks.

There is a patch of 66 that goes between Carthage and Joplin Mo. Carthage is the site of a Civil war battle, and was the home to more 'mansions' than any other city at the time (late 1800's)

You can go as far as Ashfork , then drop to Phoenix by way of Prescott valley. You can stay 10 feet off the old route 66 in Grand Canyon rv park in Ashfork. Museum is rt across the street.

Route 66 map and POI's.
Route 66 segment maps
Route 66 through Gallup NM is a 4-lane street with several old pawn shops. No RV parking though.
