Your questions are good, but as a knew RV owner and it sounds like you're also new to RVing, we need to get some of your terminology correct.
I think you're talking about the rear camera DISPLAY in the dash. The CAMERA is at the back of the coach and shows you what you're towing, if you were towing something. However, in your case that camera and dash display will be your best friend anytime you're backing the coach up at a campground, out of a driveway etc.
Let's talk about the gift you received, the Rove dash camera. As you start driving your new coach, you're going to experience careless drivers who cut you off because they think you can maneuver like their SUV. Since you'll spend a lot of time in the slow lane as a large vehicle, you'll soon find how many brain-dead people there are who get on the freeway and NEVER look to their left to merge until they run out of onramp.
The Rove dash cam just helps protect you by recording all of those actions in case you get into an accident with a careless driver.
In November, we were getting on the freeway near our house, heading out for the week. As we merged on, there was a work truck towing a trailer full of debris to the dump. A piece of wood came off of the trailer and damaged my toad (my brand-new truck).
When we arrived at our destination, and I saw the damage to the truck. I reviewed my dash cam and was able to get the company phone number off of the rear window of the truck, I called the owner, and they paid for my truck repair.
Placement of the camera.......many try and place the cameras dead center of the windshield and then have to run wiring to them. The Rove has a large field of view. Mine is mounted in the lower left corner of my windshield below my eye line and just above the dash. When you mount ii low in the corner, it allows you to run the cable along the top of the dash and out of view.
Mounting the unit.....the Rove dash cam is made for an automobile windshield that has a LOT of angle to it. When I installed the Rove in my truck it was easy to adjsut so it was looking forward. When I installed it in my motorhome, the flat windshield would not allow me to adjsut the camera so it faced forward rather than downward. I called Rove to see if they had an adapter. They recomemnded the below product on Amazon that has mutiple mounts for changing the camera angle

Keep asking questions, but until you learn all the lingo, we may need you to clarify some things. Wait until you start seeing all the abbreviations that are used on here, you'll need a playbook.
