Running lights
My 32' 2006 Canyon Trail, has lost its running lights, still have brake and blinkers. I have checked our 2006 3500 DRW and the problem is not there. It appears that the problem is in the drivers side rear, but that is just a good guess. Without pulling walls there is no way to know for sure, unless members here know of a way. I think I may have to run external wires and my question is...
1. Has anybody done this?
2. How did you shield your wire on the outside of your rig.
Thanks

Have you verified that the truck is sending 12v into the pin of the connector for your running lights? Have you used a jumper wire to the pin in the trailer connector that powers the lights? How is the harness wired into the trailer? If they used Scotchloc connectors, they have been known to fail. You could try pinching them with pliers to see if you can improve the connection, but I prefer soldered connections and liquid plastic insulation.

The turn signals/flashers/brake lights are all the same bulb--along with the tails. There are 2 filaments in each tail/stop light, one for tails, the other for brakes/flashers/turns.
If all the running lights are out, and you have power at the tow vehicle pole for those lights, then you probably have a poor connection in the 7-pole plug on the trailer side.
You can dummy up the running lights by placing a jumper wire from the batt/power pole on the trailer plug to the running lights and see if they light up. If not, then check at the junction box under the hitch to be sure all the connections are tight.

My connection at the pickup is good I have tried to run a jump from battery to running lights both at 7 pin and brown running light lead. Blows fuse...

I have checked all connections and used good crimp connectors or soldered when I could get at them.

Next I'd remove all light lens and bulbs. Then hook up brown wire to 12v (+) and see if fuse blows. If it doesn't, start replacing bulbs one at a time.

Did that, all bulbs out blows fuse... back to my original question of running wires on outside of unit. fishing wires internally maybe possible for some of the lights but want a plan B.
BTW the reason I believe it is in back drivers side is I had removed back tail light to see what I could see as all wiring starts there and goes back to the front of trailer running lights. When I put it back together the running lights worked for about an hour going down the road and then blew fuse.

If all the wires start, or go through the left rear light, I'd take the light out and disconnect all the wires, adding them back in one at a time until you find what's blowing the fuse.

Sounds like the wire for the running lights is shorted to ground. Common where wires going into or out of the frame. May be able to chase with an ohmmeter.
You can replace individual wires or the harness and attach externally to the frame. agree with solder connections and heat shrink.

Have you considered pulling the belly cover and accessing the wiring that way? My Suites has plenty of room between floor and cover to track wiring.

Thank you for all your reply's, I know I have a short somewhere in the wall on the drivers side.. I cannot get to it without pulling walls, I cannot pull a new wire. Back to my original question.. has anybody run wires on the outside of there rig and what did the use to run them in...fiberglass skin so not real thrilled to drill holes.

I ran RCA wiring for Rearview Monitor in wiring loom tie-wrapped to the frame rail.
You could also use pvc conduit.
