RV Burglary and thefts
Just curious as to what long term RVers experiences have been when it comes to burglaries of their RV and or theft of their camping equipment.
Wal mart vs truck stops vs KOA type camps vs National Forest etc. all of these might have different types of people and personalities camping there.
I know it happens everywhere but very curious how most old timers feel about security at the camps.

So far, in our 22 years of RV'ing we've never experienced any breaking in or attempted break in of our coach and/or theft of any items left outside.
Best of luck & Safe Travels.....

Common question with multiple threads. To me it boils down to relaxing a bit about stuff and use common sense. I've tent camped in the west for 50 years and never had anything stolen from a camp with everything left out in the open, at least by humans. Marmonts and other critters are another story.
Can't stop a serious thief, just make the next guy's stuff easier to take. Generators and a few high values items I'll cable lock, the rest I don't worry about much in most places. At Walmarts and the like you should not be setting up stuff outside anyhow.

In my years RVing I've never had anything stolen from my campsite. I believe that the most prudent rule is to be aware of your surroundings. If it doesn't feel safe then move on.

We had a break in the week after we bought the Bounder. We had it in a storage lot with "cameras". Turns out there cameras were only on the entry gate and office, thieves came in thru the back of the lot. Destroyed the entry door on the Bounder $5600. They stole nothing, there was nothing in the coach to steal. Now it sits in our backyard unlocked with alarm on and motion detection lights and 4 cameras on the coach connected to a DVR.
The only other incident was at a camp ground on the coast. We had never stayed there before. The campground on the Navy Base where we normally stay was booked. Thieves came in and hit several sites at night taking everything that was not nailed down. They stopped at the site next to ours. We still leave coolers, chairs and small items out in campgrounds nothing expensive.

We have never had a problem and when boondocking we use a Honda 6500 in quiet generator.
But our camper was stolen from the consignment lot we had it for sale in.
