RV covers and heat during summer

Hola,

I'm a first time RV owner and have had my little Jayco 18 footer for a few months now. I have it stored under an RV cover out back right now. It does have the little side vents built in.. What I noticed during the fall was that while in direct sunlight it would get much hotter under the cover than it was outside. I live in Texas where during the summer it gets pretty hot at times. The camper will be under the sun for a good chunk of the day. Should I remove the cover during the summer, or will it be OK? I don't want it baking any parts of the camper due to how hot it will get under the cover.

Any experiences with this? Considering trying to make more of a space on top of the camper with some 2x4s or something to help air circulate better.

I have always kept our TT under a cover (Classic Accessories PermaPro), summer and winter, in Nebraska, southern NM, and now UT. Average daytime temp in southern NM (May thru October) was probably 100*. Never had any damage as a result. It protects the camper from UV rays.

If your cover has a white roof, often made of Tyvek, that should help reflect sunlight. It's still going to be hotter inside than out. Open all your roof vents. If you don't have MaxxAir type of vent covers to keep out rain I would recommend getting them.

Keeping ultraviolet rays off your unit is a good way to avoid deterioration
