I've watched a few videos of RV crash compilations. I know that a class A built in the USA isn't the safest vehicle on the road but from what I've seen in the videos, seem to be a bit more robust than those small, lightweight campervan things in Europe.

No matter what, we do have to realize that they aren't designed the same as an automobile. Hitting something solid at 40 mph is gonna hurt. We gotta be careful for sure!

A car running into a wall at 40mph will look bad, also. I've seen some bad car accidents at city intersections.... people killed.

And that RV had air bags, I'm not aware of any class A that does here.

I was hit head on back in 1997 driving a 1985 class C on a Chevy van chassis. Back then the van chassis was uni-body construction. The result looked like the picture in the link. My next MH was another class C but it was on the new Chevy van chassis which was a full frame chassis. While I never had to test this, I felt like the full frame would give me better protection in a frontal crash. Also it sure drove better.

Good thing to watch. Things sure do go flying if not tied down.

Oh boy, that sure is scary. Should be mandatory watching for those folk who think they don't need seat restraints.

Wouldn't make a whole lot of difference. People can witness something really bad but have in their minds that it can't ever happen to them.

Ours has four. Of course, they're all part of the suspension. Sorry, could not resist, because...

Someone who didn't understand the difference once told me she felt safe in their coach it (a Monaco?) had eight airbags.

I couldn't tell if there was a "doghouse" in the vehicle, so maybe it was a DP? A mess for sure.

Not quite the same but it reminds me of this RV crash

Backgrounder. Ferry ramp is at the end of a long downhill (I'd taken the ferry across and back 2 years earlier so know the lay of the land). RV lost brakes...

I have to admit when I first watched this I didn't think it was real. Like something from Hollywood. Sad that there was loss of life involved.
