I frequent Open Roads and check in here at IRV2 and still go to PopUpExplorer occasionally. I bookmarked several of the other forums and will have to check them out.
Although I totally agree about some of the less positive things said about Open Roads (rv.net), I have to admit that I am addicted to response time. I am more of a hit refresh and have a responce than check back later and have one.
We are taking our first outing in the new to us travel trailer this weekend. I have spent the prior week getting as much knowledge as possible about it and needed the quick turnaround. Now that I think I have a lot figured out, it may be time to relax and bit and hang out here some more.

Hi AllisonAndrews!,
That is true the response time is great but some of the response are not so great. I guess the open roads forum(rv net) is just to overwhelming for me I guess. That is why I cater to the not so large forums and if the members are awsome then I am there. Which is the reason I enjoy coming to http://www.irv2.com. I do frequent http://www.rvlivin.com also but between both forums I find all the answers I am looking for.

Hi Allison. While the hit rate of the "R" board is a lot higher than here, you will get technically correct answers here where over there you will get a lot of passionate answers, whether correct or not. We may not be as big, but we are a lot friendlier.

I'm curious. I noticed you mentioned this site on rvnet also several times where you talked about which forums people go to. Is this rvliving site a site owned by you?
Also, I know you have mentioned a few times that rvnet "burned you" and you got rude answers, so I went back to look, and mostly, you are just posting about how much you like the rvliving site. I missed where anyone was rude to you

I pretty much just use this one and rv.net. I try to keep it simple and keep the same screen name where ever I go. I do the same for other forums not RV related, same screen name so don't be afraid to say hi!
Regards,

UPDATE, one month later. It seems like once I got done with the technical stuff and ventured into more "personal areas", I finally got to see more of the big picture on rv.net. I can pretty much say that I just feel like I get burned way too often on there. It seems to me if you do not think exactly like the majority of people on there, they gang up and attack you. Apparently, my religion is not worthy, my age makes me act a certain way, and I am a 'jerk' because I would rather swim in a pool after a dog then after a kid. Or even if it is just one person, some of the remarks are just plain hateful.
I think I will stop spending my time there - it is just too depressing. Things may not flow as fast here are irv2, but the atmosphere sure seems nicer.
P.S., they aren't all mean on rv.net. I think it just got to where I started seeing more mean than nice. I don't actually know if there are more mean people than nice people over there, or if the mean people just post more often. "Mean" can be replaced with grouchy, grumpy, set in there ways, etc. depending on which topic is going. I hate to be leaving a lot of the nice people over there. Perhaps they post over here as well...

AllisonAndrews
thanks for the follow-up words. That was nice.
I noted with interest your love of animals. That may not be directly correlated to your easy going personality, but i'll tell you what ... it seems like we have a zoo living at my house with us too and Cordie (zookeeper) only sees the good in creatures.
thanks again
and Doris, thanks as well.
this is Cordie welcoming me home after work:
good day,
Mike

Actually, thank YOU for the nice words. I think that was about the first thing nice anyone has said about a post in a while. I never realized I was a "bad person" until some people at the other forum told me. I think I will go back to living in denial and thinking that I am actually a nice person with a wonderful family.
On the animal note, yes I do feel like I have a zoo sometimes. At home, I have the 5 cats inside and then the two dogs are outside right now, but sometimes stay inside if the weather is rough. My parents live a few miles away and we spend a lot of time there helping them with the boer goats and their llama, donkey, cats, and dogs. I work at a college, so even work is not an escape from the 'animals', although I do have to say I prefer my animals at home versus the ones running around campus!
I saw you had hound dogs on your signature - my dad raised and trained blue ticks. They joke that I learned to walk by pulling myself up on a blue tick hound's ears!
Animals are a true blessing. It's such a wonderul feeling to have them around you and feel their unconditional love.

Hi Doris,
In Regards to your comment, I used to go by another name on rv.net but I received numerous rude replys and so forth. I am not the only one that can vouch for the rudeness of their site and that is one of reasons I am a PROUD member of irv2 and RvLivin you feel the way you do about my topic.

Doris,
Hmmm. He didn't address your question on whether he has something to gain from rvlivin.
Also, for those of you that think RV.net is filled with a bunch of rude boneheads, take a gander at this thread....
link
It's about a fellow in Georgia that went camping, saw a stray dog and tried to do something about it. If you're an animal lover, you will have a hard time putting it down. Notice the number of posts and, in all those posts, the compassionate behavior.
For the record, I use the following forums....

This one - and it was the first one I joined after rec.outdoors.rv-travel
sunnybrooktalk.com
rvforum.net - fairly new one and,
rv.net[/list]
Hope this helps.

I now for the most part only follow two forums.
The main forum I follow is RVLivin and this one iRV2. The others where just too big in that posts where lost very quickly. A post now would be way down the line in a couple hours, making it hard to keep up with. I still enjoy reading the forums on the larger sites from time to time.

Hi All!!
I am new to this site and fell across this topic, and what I am pondering is why are some members slamming this individual? Who cares that he makes known that he is a member of another forum. I am a member of rv.net myself and could care less if someone posts a link to another forum or website. I always check them out and if I like the site I sign up.
I don't think that his post is hurting IRV2 is it? Fellow rver's keep in mind we are all part of the rv community and should embrace all rvers with open arms not with insults or slamming of one's post. I decided to join this forum because of the kindness and kindness has not been felt in this thread by some members with quite a few posts. There can never be to many sites or too much information. Thank You for the link relientk1.
