Normal life-span of an RV is often well more than the duration of availability of computers/PC boards designed for that application.

When looking for our last coach (Alpine-- a GREAT coach) 2003 was the last year before MULTIPLEX WIRING. Last year I would consider.

Multiplex wiring (i.e. a computer in front communicating with a computer in the back) is reasonably reliable. BUT (yes, LARGE BUT) the computers are no longer available-- at any price! When they fail................

In our "sticks and bricks" the two year old high end dishwasher stopped working right before Christmas. Looked up the code it was throwing: "Inoperative-- water in the overflow tray". OK, remove front panel-- totally dry. OHM water switch-- checks OK. Call the manufacturer. Tech comes out (Jan 4th), smiles and connects his handheld computer (yes, to the dish washer!). Said it needed 11 updates. That corrected the issue, and dishwasher is back working (for now).

My tools and digital VOM are no longer adequate.

Public wants/demands "bells and whistles"-- there IS a price.

My neighbor just got back from 3 weeks in Florida. He went to an rv show and talked to a finance guy. Was told they were buying up land to put all the repossessed campers and motor homes on.
