RV Insurance
We have been insured thru GMAC for our motorhome and two cars. We sold our home, bought a new motorhome (08 Thunder) and registered the coach in Missoula, Montana. GMAC raised our insurance from $1500 a year to $7500 a year, yes a $6,000 increase. They said because of their high claim experience with motorhomes in Montana the increase is required. What GMAC does not factor into their claim experience is the fact that coaches all over the USA are registered in Montana for the obvious reasons, to avoid home state sales tax. We dont have a home state any more so we are not avoiding anything.
Anyone found a reasonable insurer for motorhomes????
Thanks in Advance

Does your Montana registration mean that you have registered the motor-home under a Montana LLC, or do you domicile in Montana? That could also account for the price increase as some companies require commercial insurance if you use an LLC. I suggest that you contact Foremost Insurance ( Foremost Insurance Group - Offering Insurance for a Wide Variety of Special Items - Automobile, Mobile Home, Home, Motorcycle, Motor Home, boat, wave runner, jet ski, snowmobile), as they insure the LLC owned motor-home of a friend of ours.

Hi chev,
Contacting an insurance broker is a good idea. Quickly, you can determine what the market rate is for your situation. Farm & City is a coach insurance broker. Their contact number is 800-331-1520.
Consider contacting the attorney that set up your LLC. They, most likely, have suggestions for your situation.

I have mine with Overland Insurance. $1080 a year for the last three years. The MH is registered in Florida however. If you no longer have a perminent address why don't you re-register in another state. FL does not have an income tax. Your insurance company gave you that high ball number because they want you to drop them so do it.

I have a 2006 fleetwood discovery registered in new jersey and I'm paying $1,100.00 or $1,200.00 for the year, It seems like a good price I think, so here is they're number 1-800-400-0186 they are a broker so they will look for the best price for you, good luck and find a beter price because you are paying true the nose.

I called USAA (for those eligible), and they put me through to Progressive. Seems like a good rate, and very good service so far.

I use an agency out of Ft Lauderdale that specializes in RV's. They understand the LLC situation.
Twin Peaks Insurance. Talk to Karen at 800-507-8467. She was very accomodating and the prices seem reasonable.

GEICO has a group that specializes in RV insurance for all kinds of RV insurance needs and prices nobody else can beat. You may notice on Progressive commercials, competitive prices for GEICO are not shown.
GEICO | RV Insurance Quote - Get a free RV insurance quote 1-800-909-4246
A must mention this from GEICO: If you buy a new car (not RV), never titled, under 15k miles. A Bumper-to-Bumper extended warranty cost ONLY $10.00/month with a $250.00 deductable.
You can instantly save hundreds off your auto premium for many insurance companies by watching a few videos online. I immediately saved $50.00/month ($600.0/yr) by completing the following.

Chev if you do not have a home State what kind of Driver License do you have.
From NJ and National Interstate insurance, cost in the 1500+ with a lot of $500,000 to $1,000,000 coverage, plus full timers coverage, on the road more than 6 months a year.
