When I was shopping for a Class A NH, I looked at so many websites and MH's that I had to make notes to keep everything straight. The one thing I observed with almost every MH I viewed (many, many MH's) was that the interior decorator was either blind or color blind.

Where did they come up with the color schemes ? What was the reasoning for the use of such garish colors? Pinks, mauves, lilac, god-awful blues, and greens? Pastels of every hue. Almost like they went to an uphostelery warehouse and bought what nobody else wanted.

Different strokes for different folks. Apparently a lot of people like those color schemes. At least for awhile.

One likely reason: A common complaint you hear is that "all RVs look pretty much alike" and color schemes are one way to differentiate.

My coach is certainly not garish - cherry wood, earth tone carpet, wall coverings and window treatments, ivory upholstery. But some folks think mine lacks pizazz or is "too traditional". Beauty & style are in the eye of the beholder.

yes I looked at a few coaches that only fire could cure the ugly on the inside.

Were you shopping for a new or previously-owned coach? Many times the older RVs reflect what was in style when they were brand new. (The mauve/light blue stuff was big in the 90's.) Anyhow, most of the new coaches we saw had more neutral colors...beige, creams, etc.

I always though the interior of my motorhome looked far superior the the interior of my tent....never gave it a second thought

I always just figured that some man designed the interiors and did not bother to ask directions from a woman, who would know better! Only half in just, many motorhomes are designed, built and decorated by folks who have never taken a motorhome trip in their life, and I suspect, many of the interiors are picked out by men who have never been camping and have never asked a woman for design help. All just my opinion. By the way, our present coach does not have those problems, the colors are appropriate and complimentary, but what do I know, I am a man who is partially color blind!! lol lol BUT my wife likes the colors so to me that makes them perfect. lol

Yep, even an ugly motorhome is better looking than a tent.

We are in the process of removing the pink-ish / mauve flowery headboard & window decor & changing it out to something that better suits our style. The livingroom of the motorhome is pretty tropical so we're great with that.

Just like houses. Look at a house from the 90s that hasn't been updated, and it will scream, "I'm from 1995!" The more current decor choices are fairly neutral with the pops of color in pillows, art, rugs, and the like, which are easily changeable. This helps keep them timeless and easier to change up after a few years. When we looked at ours, that's one thing I liked...the timeless nature of the decor. Since we're probably going to keep it a long time, I didn't want to look at it 5 or more years down the road (when it will be 10 or more yrs. old) and know exactly when it was built.

It's just not your opinion. I've said the same thing many a time. I'm also color blind but I have to good sense to ask a friend for help when selecting colors.

The RV designers should hire you. Using neutral colors on surfaces not easily changed out and add color to easily changed things, like what you mentioned, is the way to go, although I would have suggested curtains instead of rugs since rugs are fastened down in RVs by staple gun wielding maniacs getting paid by the staple, making them a bit harder to change out.
