A series of self-paced, educational classes intended to prepare individual RV technicians for certification testing will go online Monday (Feb. 25).
The RV Technician Certification Preparation Course, which will cost $249 per person, will be available through two websites –
www.rvlearningcenter.com and
www.rvtechnician.com.
The classes were developed by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) and are being marketed by the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) Education Foundation Inc.
The online program combines text, audio, graphics, video and practice tests on subjects that include propane, electrical, plumbing, brakes, suspension and towing, appliances, generators, hydraulics and sliderooms. A student's progress is automatically tracked and a practice test is administered after each chapter and section. An online forum monitored by industry professionals also is available to post questions, and a certification practice test follows completion of the course.
"It's comprehensive," said Phil Ingrassia, RVDA vice president for communication. "It provides an online, 24/7 program that allows technicians to proceed at their own pace."
Those who complete the practice test with a passing grade of 80% or better receive a certificate.
Certification testing began during RVIA's Trouble Shooter clinic in Eugene Ore., earlier this month, and tests are scheduled this year on Feb. 29 in Harrisburg, Pa.; March 7 in Bowling Green, Ky.; March 15 in Largo and Palmetto, Fla.; March 21 in Elkhart, Ind.; April 13 in Waco, Texas; May 13 in Bowling Green; May 23 in Mesa, Ariz.; June 7 in Largo and Palmetto, Fla.; Aug. 3 in Waco; Aug. 29 in Bowling Green; Sept. 13 in Largo; Nov. 14 in Bowling Green; and Nov. 16 in Waco. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
