RV Weather Station

Good Day;

I searched on this forum info about a RV weather station, but only found info that was from three years ago and older.

So I just thought I'd inquire if there is any newer information out there on RV weather stations? If your using one what is it, and do you like it or not.

Thanks .. Paul

Our weather monitor is an Oregon brand. We use it at home and take it on the road with us. Sort of eats batteries though since we have it plugged into 120ac at home and use battery on the road. Have to remember to plug it in to 120 at nightly stops.

Just bought a La Crosse Technology 79400 weather station. Works great. Checked readings with online location readouts and it was very close.

I was wondering the same, so I'm following this thread. lllkrob, do you travel with the outdoor unit mounted, or put it up at every stop? I would think that driving with the wind monitor spinning like mad would break it, no? Where do you mount the outdoor unit?

I'm using the AcuRite Atlas, it has alarms you can set- temperature, wind speed. I'm using the wind speed alarm, so I know when to get the awning rolled up.

This unit is easy to take down, it has a thumb set screw that clamps it to a 1" pvc pipe. I loosen it up and take it off the pipe and store it on the bed.

I have had a accurite wireless weather station permanently mounted for 5 years. I screwed and dicor’d a 8” pvc post to the roof that it mounts on. On travel days it thinks I’m in a 65 mph storm! Lol
I’ve had no issues other than sun fade of the plastic I would have had anyway. I’ve replaced the wind cups ( cheap ) once as they hit a tree limb . If it can’t take a 65 mph wind then it’s a pretty lousy weather station . Due to its location mid coach you’d be surprised how little wind it “sees” as the box front end pushes the air way up and over the coach roof . One tip … Keep it away from the ac units exhaust as they put out a lot of heat giving false readings One other thing is I set it up pointing so North is the front of the coach. I get wind direction in relation to that.

I like this one. It uploads the temp/humidity to the cloud service for free(no subscription required) and you can check the readings from a phone app anywhere on earth.

Paul,

We have 2 Acurite 5 Sensor units. One for home and one in the RV.
We got them from Amazon.

I put both Sensor Arrays about 15 feet high in clear air for accuracy.

The Sensor array is NOT up while under way.

HERE is the readout for both units. Obviously NOT today's temperatures.

The home unit is on the Internet so we can check it when gone.

We've had the units for over 5 years and they work exceptionally well.

The 4-AA batteries seem to last about a year. 2 of the batteries run the sensors. 2 of the batteries run the data transmitter.

The home unit now has a remote battery pack mounted on the fence. As I have aged, it's gotten harder to get up there to change the batteries.

Let me know if you want any more information.

Tim

You are welcome. It's the "picture is worth a thousand words" thing.

My grandkids think I only have one eye 'cause a camera is always covering the other one.
