Salvage Title
Anyone have any idea how much a Salvage Title effects the value of a Travel Trailer? I'm looking at a 2018 Palomino Solaire 205SS in good condition, asking price $16,500. The seller tells me it has a salvage title because when it was delivered new to the dealer it had a bent axle. The insurance company totaled the trailer, it was purchased from the insurance company and the axle replaced. No other defects. The asking price is not bad buy clearly the salvage title lowers the value, I just don't know how much. I don't know what would be a reasonable offer. The trailer meets all my needs but I'm going to have to sell it someday. I'm inclined to pass on it because of the salvage title.

Have it inspected and change the title to a Rebuilt Title.

To be honest, I would want to know how the axle became bent. Those axle tubes are pretty tough so to bend one it had to be hit pretty hard. Since this is a dual axle trailer, I would look at the tracking adjusters on the springs. If they are not adjusted the same or one side is way off, that would indicate a bent frame.
As mentioned already, if you really like this trailer I would definitely get it inspected with the focus on the frame and body integrity.
The price is not all that competitive, see the link below. this one is located in Utah, the closest I could find to you but there are better deals out there if your willing to travel.

I would have the tt inspected, there have been many RVs moved out of Florida after the storms and they probably sustained limited water damage... they would have a salvage title.

Salvage title to me means, run away. So, the value in my mind is whatever you can get for the trailer at a salvage yard!

Take a look at RV trader and you will see he is asking retail value. I don’t know anything about valuing travel trailers, but when I was involved in the automobile business a salvage title meant a minimum 25% reduction off retail without even looking at the condition of the vehicle.

We use 50% of retail value on salvage title automobiles as a starting point.
The issues are insurance and financing.

Don't forget to check with your insurance company, some will not insure totaled/rebuilt titled vehicles. Realize that insurance companies use a repair to value formula. I don't see a bent axle costing the percentage to total the trailer.

It will ALWAYS be a salvage title.
A car dealer told me rebuilt title = 25% of wholesale.

In broad terms, salvage titles are for vehicles that require significant repair costing more than their owners’ insurance companies say they’re worth.
A salvage title is redesignated as a Rebuilt title after the vehicle passes inspection following repair and restoration.
A bent axle = salvage title??? Horsepucky
There's more to the story

Run, don't walk away. Insurance will be an issue. Many companies decline coverage on anything with a salvage title. A bent axle will not normally result in a salvage title. Hidden damage could possibly result in unsafe handling.

The trailer would not have been totalled by a bent axle alone. There was evidently more damage done to it when the tire hit a pot hole, curb, boulder, or whatever.
Solaire sounds well to do and all but it is definitely not a high end trailer by any means. A friend of ours has that exact model and will testify to this. A $16k selling price might be ok for a used one in good shape but not for a trailer that has a salvage title. I would keep looking..

Bent axles happen. Jacking up the trailer on the axle is a big NO NO. The axle will bend. Axles are replaced without any problem. This does not mean it has to be re-titled as salvage. You can do a title search to verify reason it ended up with a salvage title.
I agree that there is more to the story.
Sounds more like a scam sale.
