Sam's Club Mattress?
We need to buy a new mattress to replace the the factory slab in our new RV. I was Sam's today and see that Serta makes some nice looking pillow tops for around $400-500 for a queen size.
Has anyone purchased one?

No, but type of mattress is a very personal choice. One that I love may be a pain in the [choose a body part] to you. The only way to evaluate is to lie down on it. If that's not practical at Sams, shop some mattress stores where they have demonstator samples. You can always go back to Sams to buy if their price is better.
I've been thinking about a Sams Serta for the bed in our stick house. Gonna have to replace it before too long, and those Sertas on display at Sams are calling out to me!

Yes. We purchased one for our DSDP. Just too hard for us and uncomfortable even after we added a foam topper to it. We just replaced it with a Sleep Number pillow top and now sleep like a baby. I guess if you like a hard bed it's ok, but just not for us.

We had one specially made at Brothers Bedding in Knoxville, TN. We tried several mattresses in the store and had one custom made....one of the better decisions that we have made....never got cheap on bedding as one may spend one-third of one's life in bed.

Gary's right, it's a very personal choice. Before you make that choice, I recommend that you find a Sleep Number store and try theirs. A sleep number came with our coach. We added an extra 3" pillow top to it last year. Recently bought the Sleep Number I 10 for the house. Now it's really hard to get me out of bed in the morning, in either the coach or the house.

I replaced our factory mattress with the 13" foam from Costco. One of the best improvements we have made to the Coach.

There are several models so the prices vary. Take a look at www.select comfort.com for an idea, but you really must try one out first.

We were ready to even do a custom mattress due to backaches sleeping on the mattress that came with our coach. But we couldn't stand even one more night, so we bought a Sams Club 3" thick memory foam topper for about $100 as a stop gap until we could decide on another mattress. Had to cut about 4" off the end to fit our RV queen bed. Two years later we are still happy with the change the 3" foam made. No need to spend a grand or two or three on a fancy mattress for us.
EJM4, make sure you can use a standard queen available from Sams as most RV's have a short queen.

Shortly before I sold my house and went full time I bought a queen pillow top Serta from Sam's on some kind of special deal for around $300. As soon as I bought my Win I slid the little slice of toast that came on the bed out to the curb and put the pillow top in. I sleep like a baby. The only thing was I had to use a stick for support when I access the underbed storage. The weight of the mattress was too much for the lift cylinders. My problem with the foam matresses is I seem to sweat while I'm sleeping on them. I'm not a great big person, it's just lying on foam I guess. Meander is right, you spend too much time in bed to not be comfy. Safe travels...

ejm4, are you aware that your rig may have a "short queen"?
I purchased a Tempur-pedic celebrity for my home 2 years ago. It was not easy to leave home after sleeping on that majic mattress. So what did I do? Bought the short queen "
PacDown™ 9" Memory Foam Mattress "
from bedinabox. It is a heavier. It is not as nice as the Tempur, but it's 50 times better that that little slice of toast I flung in the dumpster. I can now sleep away from home.

Our coach had the factory mattress with 2 memory foam toppers on top when we bought it. The first thing my wife said was we will get an air number mattress-then we slept on it several nights while bringing the coach home and found it to be more comfortable than what we had at home.
