My degree was ~45 years ago, but the science that today's technology is based on still relies on Newton's Laws, Maxwell's Equations and the General and Special Theories of Relativity, all of which pre-date my education.
I'm not in any way claiming that I'm an expert in all the technology of the past ~50 years, but I think I have as good a knowledge base as anyone to ask probative questions.

I did some reading today on Starlink.
I am very intetested despite all the unknowns at the moment.
Echolink(?), Hughsnet, and the other major satellite internet company (Via-something) subscribers are all eager to switch over asap due to the latency rates they have vs the predicted latency rates Starlink is supposed to have.
It looks like more satellites will be launched soon again, and we might see pre-orders for the service start as early as April through the summer.
Estimated prices so far are: $100-$300 for the UFO dish and maybe $80 for monthly subscription.
It is very user friendly - a 2 step setup process.
Service will start hopefully this summer in North America, and finish out to the rest of the world by next year.
Again, from what I read, there are still unknowns but it does look promising for mobile internet RV users and I for one am excited!
If anything, the added competition from Starlink should at a minimum incentivize the existing satellite providers to make improvements. If they can't - that is life and we the consumer should end up benefitting with the superior product or service.

These folks are done and they know it. Nothing can save them from going the way of the buggy whip.
In 2000 we lived in Wyoming, outside of Jackson Hole. At the time we moved there was only dial-up internet. I started out bonding two 56K telephone lines for rudimentary internet access. Then I switched to DishNet SAT internet. The latency issue was horrible. We dumped that as soon as we got something new available.
I know that there are remote places but current SAT options for internet are so bad that most folks will use ANYTHING else they can find to get access.
Starlink is sure to be the final nail in that already pretty full coffin.

I wonder if there could be any fesibility to a merger of their existing technology with Starlink?
If even possible, it might be the only way to save themselves.
