Thanks for the heads-up!

That's the kind of thing that usually triggers my: "If it sounds too good to be true . . ." alarm. It's a very attractive website and sales pitch. They only have to fool a tiny percentage of visitors and they prey on two common human traits- Trust, and the desire to get an unusually great "deal." Two traits that sure exist in me.

I absolutely love getting a steal of a deal which is why when I come across one, I force myself to stop, put on my skeptic hat, and think about if for a few minutes. I've missed some legitimate deals by doing so, and saved myself from getting ripped off too.

Sorry to hear they got you. I got bit on a dirt cheap lease on a piece of property a couple years back that would be nice to have when we retired. Just before we made the purchase my wife and I discussed the fact it sounded too good to be true so there was risk involved. Right before we contacted the seller we looked at each other and agreed out loud that we were ok with losing that amount of money should the deal be a bad one. Took three years before the owner went bankrupt and all we were left with was a nice fancy piece of paper. It wasn't much money and we considered it "disposable". No, we didn't like losing our money but we went into it with a clear understanding of the risk. There were about 100 others who lost the same amount, some much, much, more because they had built on "their" property. They lost buildings, I lost access to a small piece of dirt. C'est la vie.

I put 20% down to buy one of the units. The business checks out (they used a name of a business that existed in that address), their video reviews were done by the same person, the VIN history matches everything they say, they communicated with me with no problems. Every time we chatted I got a chat transcript, on the phone they sounded American English, they did not force the sale. They gave me the option to go to see it to ND or to have it shipped and pay the rest upon receipt. They sent me wire instructions to a US bank, they gave a good and logical explanation for the whole process.
I check the electronic information tag on the pictures, and they were tagged with gps signature at their store. BBB reviews were good. Everything checked. They even told me that the low price is because they knew there were a few items not working.
2 days before delivery they stopped answering any communication. I check the website and it was hosted in Luxembourg (first red flag). Double checked the pictures, the digital Id was modified (really crafty scammers). Did some research and found that the legit business was there with that name, but closed and they took it over. The only different, they had to add LLC at the end.
I feel stupid for getting cought in a scam, so here it goes, BE AWARE, THEY ARE GOOD!!!!!!

I got cought before they identifyed the Minot "branch". FBI and BBB have been trying to shut them down for a couple of months but can't. Off-shore server, nothing they can do. They even told the host company they were running a scam, the host company told them "They are paying us, we have no reason to tak them off-line"

I see/hear about scams like this a lot involving boats. One forum I frequent a member was selling his boat on a legit boat trade website. The scammers posing as brokers used his picture and info of his boat to run the scam on their phony brokerage site. Then when the victim paid a big deposit to the scammer, the scammer disappeared. The victim researched the boat name and registration numbers to find the legit owner and told him he was coming to get the boat. Things got ugly with the victim claiming the legit owner was part of scam and began making threats of violence against the owner. Owner had to pull a gun to get the hot headed victim to get off his property and then got an order of protection to keep the guy away. Things cooled off and the victim finally accepted that he wasn't getting the deal of the century ( $50K boat for $30K
