I once seen a Class A get stuck coming out of a little gas station that he shouldn't of went to. The rear end bottomed out and the rear wheels were off the ground so it wasn't going anywhere. I didn't stick around to see how they got it out.

You mean those little wheels aren't for when the front tires come off the ground when you take off too fast?

On the occasion dragging is looking to be unavoidable I do everything I can to mitigate it. It typically happens out of gas stations with deep ditches. I have air leveling so can raise the front or rear as needed so I will do that and then I exit at as much angle as possible allowing the coach to walk over the depression. This works most of the time.

I'm not a fan of the skid wheels these coaches do not need anything any lower than they all ready are. The wheels hang 4"+ lower than the frame so spots someone may have cleared they no longer will.

It's a personal preference whatever works for you, do it.

There's a short, steep hill at the intersection down the road. I've seen motor homes, trailers, and trucks, stuck on the hill. The back bumper gets hung up because the driver guns the engine to get up the hill and lifts the tires off the road or jambs the trailer into the hill. Usually some wood planks get them rolling again. Last week there were two bumper end caps laying in the road. I guess they drug the bumper and knocked the caps off.

Sometimes we have to look at the approach to some of these gas stations and just say 'nope, I'm going to a different gas station'.

We stayed in Branson MO last year.. A very nice park. But it is in the Ozark Mtns.. LOTS of scrape marks getting into/out of camping spaces.. We heard a few while there... That was on my mind when we bought the present 5vr... No probs "yet"....

WELL FOLKS - with all these responses, no one admits to more than very minor damage from scraping pavement. Is it just not a worry at all?

I just checked my coach yesterday for any damage from the bottom scraps. All I saw was some scratch marks on the last 1 inch of the tail end of the frame.

I've noticed scrapes on the overhang on mine. Must have happened to the PO. I have dragged my towbar several times and that worries more than anything. I'm afraid one day it will rip my toad right off.

"RV Vagabond"......I have the same issue, dragging my tail in and out of our ramped driveway. I added a solenoid to the rear air bags that allows me to temporarily lift the rear of the coach an additional 3" when I drive out. The kit is offered by Source Engineering, a company that advertises on here. The solenoid temporarily bypasses your ride height valve, extending the air bags. A person with average DIY skills can install.

On my previous coach, a 2005 Diplomat, it also dragged, but not as badly. On that coach I added the wheel in the below picture. It was welded to the hitch. You can see the angle I contend with.
