Seal up those pin boxes and the underbellys.

We set up in a VA state park this past Friday at noon. By early morning yesterday a bird nest was well under construction.
I blocked it off but will need to fab something when we get home.
We had a horrible experience a few years back and don't want to repeat it. They had gotten up into the underbelly and were all living quite well in there.

I use hardware cloth to block the king pin area of the 5th wheel hitch. Won't keep the wasps out but it does the birds.

When we had the 5er I filled it with expanding foam insulation. Spraying in a bit at a time to keep from over-filling, when near full made a cardboard "stop" to keep it in where it needed to be. Held up good the 12 years we had it.

Well that didn't take long. I went to put the bikes on the rack yesterday evening for our departure today. They were at it again in the back bumper as one of the caps had disappeared on the way here.
No eggs yet either time BTW.

The belly has been pretty well sealed and no rodents inside this spring after the trailers winter's sleep. Ours has the furnace cold air return in the stair risers. I used some aluminum screening on the back side just in case a rodent somehow found another missed open door in that belly cover. Nary a mouse poo now. Aluminum screening in much less edible then the fiberglass.

The pin box was a haven for birds on the current and the previous 5er. I made up a removable wood panel that covers the gap. using rare earth magnets epoxied on it to hold in place with the pigtail coiled and inside the gap. It took some time fitting and adjusting but does the job well
