Seeking feedback on the Easy Care Extended warranty

We’re hoping to complete our paperwork next week. One of the questions the dealer asked is if we want an extended warranty.

The trailer is a new 2021 Cedar Creek Cottage with a net price of $53k. The warranty would cost $2,200 for a total of 6-years of coverage. We’re also hiring a NRVIA.org inspector to perform an inspection prior to buying it. So we should have a good idea of any problems at that time.

Normally we never buy extended warranties. However, this trailer will be semi-permanently setup on our property so it won’t be something we can easily take to a dealer for any repairs. Plus I’m not licensed to tow a 41’ trailer nor will my truck pull it.

The warranty provides up to $125 on-site service call which is the only reason we’d buy it.

I’d like to see if anyone has bought one of these warranties and had to use it. If so, how did it go and are you satisfied with them?

We had EasyCare service plan on our 2004 Tiffin Allegro Open Road which we bought in 2014 and sold in 2015. We used service plan 3-4 times and it did pay for itself.

We also had Easy Care on 2014 Tiffin Allegro Open road and never used it.

We purchased a new 2019 Tiffin Phaeton and we did not purchase extended service plan. Each month I put $$ into my maintenance/service account to cover cost of repairs.

Remember that your new unit should be covered by manufacturer's 1 year warranty. So your six year warranty basically covers the 5 years after manufacturers warranty. My recommendation is to budget $$ each month to cover cost of repairs and save the cost of the warranty. But, you can see how things go during your first year and make decision on whether you would be more comfortable with extended warranty at like month 10 or 11.

You will find lots of discussion on this topic in various iRV2 forums. My guess is that it opinions probably favor not buying extended service plan (personal opinion/observation).
