Seller Be Aware!!

I have a MH for sale on a RV Classified website and was contacted by a person who stated he was interested in the MH and wanted to know my final price, if it was listed on other websites and more detailed photos of the MH. I was concerned with the first e-mail as it was worded in such a fashion to lead me to believe that the e-mail was translated to English by a computer program or was written by someone who did not actually speak English. They also assured me they were legit and provided a 206-666-2507 phone number. I googled the phone number and found that it was used in 2009 by a scammer. I continued to exchange e-mails and even told them to call me. They e-mailed me back that they had tried to call but they didn't "connect". My phone never rang nor did it show any missed calls the day they said they called. The next e-mail provided me detailed instructions for completing the sale in 2 parts. Part 1 was to send a cashier's check for a deposit, and Part 2 was to send a wire transfer after they had a "professional company" check out the MH. They then requested all my banking info so they could wire the money. That is when I was 99.9% sure it was a scam. I have e-mailed them that the only way they could purchase the MH was in person. I don't expect to hear from them again.

This exact same sernario has been reported for a 5th wheel that is for sale in the classifieds of this website.

My advice, do not deal with a "Roger King from 1071 Andover PARK W., Seattle, WA 98188, at 206-666-2507"

Good catch. Glad you were on top of things. I hope there's a special place reserved in Hades for those folks.

.............This ignorance is everywhere, I see so much of it on the news and some even turn into robbery when the parties arrange an appointment. Just this week in the Atlanta area, a C....gslist innocent lady was locked in her own closet and robbed, just for advertising something for sale. Good luck.

While I have gotten phone calls from iRV2 classifieds, email has always been a scammer.

Good ol' Roger is lazy. He'll almost certainly follow up because he just has a sequence of pre-written emails that he sends out after each response.

I only deal with him from my [Moderator Edit] gmail account just to waste his time.

had same thing happen listed my tow dollie on craigslist got an email that you could tell the author wasn't used to speaking english, wanted more pictures then i had posted heck it's a dollie who needs over three pictures of a dollie, went along just once then they gave them self's away when they wanted to have a professional company come tow it and it was going to cost $450 and they were going to wire me the money to pay them.
i sent them a nasty email i won't repeat the language but never heard from them again.
it's a shame that this stuff goes on but glad we have been educated to protect our self's

That's the address of Crown Moving Company in Tukwila, a suburb just over the hill from SeaTac airport.

You might drop 'em a line at (206) 336-2500 to verify Mr. King doesn't work there, give them the opportunity to file a criminal complaint with the area police for fraudulent use of their address. A long shot, but it might reveal that someone for whom English is a second language running a scam out of the SeaTac area.

Sometimes, it's fun and rewarding to prey on predators. Just ask the guy who called DW at 2AM from Washington, D.C. (she issued the same retort I'd have gotten), not fully understanding the perils of assuming anonymity in a hi-tech world... Thanks to some brilliant young guys suffering from insomnia, I was in touch with HIS wife within an hour, having an entirely different conversation...

I was surprised to get one of those scam emails on my Craig's List ad selling a $2000 fruit sorter.
I guess they must get a few suckers or they wouldn't keep trying.

Something like This!!!!!!

Dear Rick,
Yes, I did receive the voice message from you.
And I wanted to thank you for the continued attention being shown to my purchase inquiry for your RV.

After a careful consideration of the unit's features, condition, and options e.t.c - my candid judgment about this unit is that it’s satisfactory: so also is your asking price of $98,000 hence, it’s to my delight going ahead with my purchase.
And as I do take a bold step in purchasing this unit, l do herein require that you exhibit a high level of PROFESSIONALISM and SINCERITY.

Take note that, the payment for this unit will be executed and made available to you TWICE:
-The 1st part of the two payments will be a $4,000 PARTIAL-PAYMENT (deposit): this will be executed and made available to you via a cashier check.
This deposit is to serve as a security/guarantee that the obligation of completing this purchase will be met.
-The 2nd part of the payments will be the BALANCE-PAYMENT of $94,000: this will be made available to you via a Bank Wire (which will be executed in accordance to your specified Bank Account.)

That said, also note that the 2nd part of the payments will be SUBJECTED TO A PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTION. This pre-purchase inspection will be undertaken by an inspecting/engineering crew that I am going to contract.
And I will only give the green light to the 2nd part of the payments only if/when this unit has been OKed by the inspecting/engineering crew.

l have come up with this payment arrangement i.e. the $4,000 partial-payment - exclusively in the bid to authenticate my sincere and keen intention to make a purchase, and to allow me the time to gather and channel my resources towards the fulfillment of the 2nd part of the payment.

If the above mentioned payment methods/ arrangements are OK with you - then email me the below payment info:

FOR THE CASHIER CHECK:
1. The Name you want on the cashier check?
2. The Physical Contact Address of the Recipient of the check?
3. Your Contact/Cell Phone Number(s)?

FOR THE BANK:
1. The Beneficiary Bank Name, Address & Phone Number(s) ?
2. The Account Routing # ?
3. The Account Name ?
4. The Account # ?
Info will be kept Confidential.

All other arrangements and procedures i.e. the mailing of the 1st part of the payment, provision for the unit's inspection, execution of the 2nd part of the payment, transportation and acquisition et cetera will be communicated/emailed to you in due course of the transaction.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation in selling this unit to us.

I do look forward to a successful and seamless transaction with you in good faith and trust.

Sincerely,
Roger King.

Phone/ Fax. 206-666-2507.

Roger,

I just left you a voicemail.

Nothing has changed regarding the coach other than we dropped the price down to $98,000.

Dear rc.allen ,

Thanks for the prompt attention shown to my purchase inquiry for your 2005 Newmar .

I am Roger King (1071 Andover Park W. Seattle, WA 98188.)
I am into freelance sales and leasing of RVs.

I visited the website: and I do appreciate the enclosed photos, the info and the link provided - they have been so helpful.

However, before I move on from here, tell me if there has been any change to the advertised state & condition of the unit after the posting of the advertisement.
What is your final/asking price for the unit? So I can decide whether it's within my parameters to purchase or not.

I look forward to successfully completing this purchase from you.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Roger.

btw, there is a free service, k7.net, that offers 206 area code voicemail/fax numbers. Ol'Rog just took the time to find an address to go with it.

When I use Craigslist, or any listing service. I never provide an email address, nor will I reply to one.

Telephone calls only from locals who can come see it in person. Never been stung that way.

Ah yes...we too have been contact by Roger. In our initial conversation, he listed the link to this website's classified section and the ad for our coach. After his second email when he asked us to make an offer, we decided it wasn't going to be anything more than some scheme to get our money or launder his. We led him along for a few days and actually the last we heard from him he was going to up the cashier's check by $4500 which was to be given to his inspector when he arrived to inspect the coach. And the inspector was from "Abf" and could be contacted at "everettlogistics" at AOL. Both are legit businesses but the contact info for both was bogus. We finally got tired of the game and told him to quit contacting us.
