Selling a Motor Home
After 30 years of RVing I find it necessary to sell our motor home due to my wife's health and was wondering where you folks might suggest the best place to sell. I must say my wife and I have had many memories to look back on and as they say we will always have the memories.
Thank you in advance,
Bruce

Well I assume it's the 2004 Newmar? How much? How many miles?

I listed my parent's motorhome on our local newmedia classifieds, KSL.com. They blow the doors off Craigs List for usability. I committed a nearly fatal error I need to share:
We settled on $14,000. He whipped out a personal checkbook. I said no, need cash or a cashiers check. He said I live 60 miles away, you drive the motorhome to my house, I give you $14,000 cash and drive you back. Stupidly, I said Ok. What could possibly go wrong. Well, he gave my 140 $100 bills, we got in his truck, and drove 60 miles back to my house, thru some pretty deserted stretches of Southern Idaho. Anywhere he could have produced a gun and taken his $14,000 back, ventilated my stupid self and buried me in a shallow grave. The correct answer was you go get the money, I'll hold the rig for 24 hours.

Thank you for the response Sudsy. I didn't put the price and etc. as was really looking for best places to advertise it and I wasn't sure if I could even use IRV to post it. [ moderator edit]

We have a free classified section here at Irv2 for members. Specifics about an item for sale or purchase are not permitted in the open forum.
Thanks for understanding and best of luck with your sale.

We sold ours within a month for the price we put on it by taking it to PPL Consignment in Houston. A couple from Florida flew in to purchase it. Stress-free way of selling.... no phone calls, no appointment set-ups, waiting around and then have no-shows.

Our rules allow you to post one link to your ad in our classifieds but not the other sites. Good luck with it.

Just beware with Craigslist as 90% of emails will be fake. Or a company calls you from Las Vegas offering to advertise your RV for $400 fee.

I listed at iRV2 classifieds, RVT.com, RVTrader.com, and Clist. Only one was a paid listing.
You never know where the buyer will come from. All provided potential buyer calls / emails / txts.
You will get bogus replies and offers to broker or list for a fee... i just declined or didn't respond to the obvious bogus ones.

Another vote for PPL in Houston. We sold two there, several years apart. We dropped it off, their pricing agreed with my research, and I had a check in a few weeks.
Aside from moving the RV from Kingman to Houston, PPL is about as easy as it could get.
