Selling an RV

I have been on the road almost 10 years now and am thinking of selling the RV and getting back into a house. Not sure where to advertise the RV for sale. It's a Class A. Also if I don't find a buyer I may just go to a dealer and sell it. I am currently in Sarasota FL but am not familiar with any dealers in the area. I know Lazy Days has a location near Tampa and there is North Trail down in Ft Myers. Any suggestions will be helpfull.

PPL has recently opened a central Florida branch location, and does consignment sales (all their other locations are in Texas)

You can start by advertising it for free here in the IRV2 Classifieds.

I sold mine on RV Trader. Was a quick process but be prepared to get plenty of calls from tire kickers. I was going to do the same but the dealer prices were significantly less than I received.

We've bought and sold through RVTrader.com, no reason to consider any other method unless you're in a tight situation.

I'd recommend taking it on your last trip to PPL Consignment in Houston. We sold ours for the price WE put on it with a month.

Here are recently sold ones with price it sold for:

Good luck on however you choose to liquidate. If you want extra hassle and extra return, do what was suggested. If you don’t care what you sell it for, go to a dealer and take whatever they offer and get rid of it tomorrow.

Isn't lazy days out of business? If that's the brand you have do private sale. Those things have a decent following and seem to be on the way to becoming collectible

Oh wait, you said class A. Now I'm confused how lazy days entered the discussion

Our experience with PPL was terrible. We consigned a 5 year old upper midline diesel pusher (Monaco Dynasty). We paid extra for the service to wash it and start it on a regular basis. After 6 months it hadn’t sold. Went to pick it up and it was parked in the middle of a mud hole. It was by far the newest, most expensive rig on the lot. That fact drew foot traffic. And I mean lots of muddy foot traffic. Every knob and button was missing, apparently they made nice souvenirs. The coach batteries were completely dead, both house and chassis. It was obvious it hadn’t been started and cleaned even though we paid that fee. They put a charger on the batteries, but no go. So I was out $1000 replacing them all. As I waited first for charging, then replacement(2 days) I had nothing to do but wander the lot. Numerous rigs were parked so close together that you couldn’t open the doors. Customers were told to just roam and explore. All rigs were left unlocked and never did a salesperson accompany the customers. Judging from their sales board, $50K would be an outlier high sales price. Their market was the $25k and under crowd.
If you have a junker, it is probably a good place to sell, lots of foot traffic. If you have a high end rig, go elsewhere, it will take a beating, PPL won’t care and the customers roaming the lot won’t be qualified to buy it.

I always start with a good old fashion sign. You never know when you have a neighbor or someone in your storage lot that was already looking. When we sold our Kountry Star I had a plan to post a 4-sale sign for the last two trips - hoping to find someone in the camp ground. We got super lucky and sold it on the first day after only 4 hours of posting the sign.

Something else I have found selling personal items (cars, boats, RVs). If you get an offer early in the process that is a little low - take it. I can't tell you how many times we passed on an early offer hoping to get something better then going through weeks or months of selling headaches only to sell at the same lower price. Your time is worth $$.
