As I was finishing high school, I wanted to be an airframe and power plant mechanic. Well, that did not work out as planned, so it was off to college and I have been in medicine for the past 36 years. There are times I wonder if I made the right choice.

I started by studying Electrical Engineering but never finished that degree before going into avionics, industrial production machines, medical devices, and IT. Luckily, I didn't incur any debt in my studies and I had practical knowledge that led me to successful careers the degree alone would not have.

Clear back in the 70s, when I graduated, up into the late 90s all the counselors kept pushing kids toward college prep even those who struggled for grades. They said you need a college education to get a good paying job. You were looked down upon if you were in the vocational classes. Mike Rowe has testified before Congress numerous times sighting the need to put trades as a viable option for those who may not be good candidates for college.. As far as worthless degrees, isn't it amazing how we had so much "fine art" long before colleges started offering degrees in them. Most learned their craft as apprentices just like so many trades today.

People that work with their hands are uneducated? Next time your car doesn’t start, plumbing is broke or power is out, call one of those “educated” musical theatre majors. The “uneducated” farmer is still smart enough to know people need to eat, they don’t need to watch someone sing opera.
There’s an old axiom. If it’s broke and needs fixed now, call a farmer not an engineer. Engineers will study the problem for six months before suggesting a solution. Farmers don’t have months to wait for a fix, they’ll make it run today because the rain won’t wait.
Uneducated? Guess if ones thinks sitting in a college classroom makes them educated, sitting at a baseball game makes them Babe Ruth.

The thread is much more fun and informative the way it's developing rather than focus on the OPs narrow issue.

Nobody but you has suggested that.
College art degrees have nothing to do with "fine art".

Here's an interesting update: The first service center I called in my original post, part of the two largest service centers in my area, well known around these parts, that turned me down because I didn't buy it there, just became a Camping World and is happy to take my business. Even talked to the same lady on the phone who had been snarky to me before when she told me nope. Scheduled some suspension upgrades for October. Just kind of funny to me.

Different folks (company) then different strokes.
Camping World would be out of business in no time using those kind of tactics.
Probably had something to do with the previous owners hanging it up as well.
Problem is with getting enough good techs. as well.

I wish you luck! I won't let Camping World tough my RV. I have heard too many horror stories.

Have you actually had any experiences, good or bad, with a CW or just what you have read and heard? Every larger dealership, especially the chains, get bad rap. CW owner did the CW and Gander businesses no favors with his insult to a significant political group in this country. Some, perhaps many CW, and other dealerships, deserve the bad press they receive. I have have frustrating experiences with a local CW, and a good repair after a blowout damages to my older 5th wheel. I bought a motorhome there and the finance guy was the epitome of "finance guy sleaze and pushy", but aren't most of them? The salesman/women are largely ignorant of the products they sell but that's also the case in most dealerships, especially the larger ones.
If you/we let the internet chatter govern where we do business then we'll end up in a bunker doing nothing. Many eagerly tout Amazon but the CW owner pales compared to the amazon owner's greed and political stances. Amazon today isn't the amazon we once knew. Prices, shipping, quality???
DISCLAIMER; I have no affiliation with any CW, or other businesses for that matter, just my personal experiences. My recent purchase of the Thor Omni was at a CW in Biloxi MS. They mostly were not pushy and when I told one of the salesmen that I thought their GM was pushy and not helpful, they had another manager reach out and the original "GM" stayed out of it. They were responsive before and after the sale with questions I had. The local CW is going to have me in next month to handle some warranty issues, meaning I don't have to travel back to the selling dealer.
The internet, and associated forums can be a great source of help and huge source of mis-information. It helps to know the difference and filter responses and information you see.

Me too, but with this changeover, the three nearest RV service centers are Camping Worlds. Unless I want to drive 2-3 hours away, and try to convince a place I didn't buy from to take me in, it's Camping World or a Mobile RV Tech, and the mobile ones don't do a lot of the suspension stuff.
Honestly, and even though we've only had our RV for a couple months, I think next year we'll be getting rid of it and getting a small cabin in the woods. Maintenance, having to find a truck shop to work on part of it or a RV shop to work on the other part, when everything's booked solid, being worried about being stranded 2000 miles from home and having to do those things...this RV, learning all the ins and outs, learning how to fix things, it's been all consuming for me, and isn't even very nice to drive.

Do you think that such a cabin will be maintenance free,or easy to get worked on? Whether a cabin in the woods or an RV, the best answer is to learn how to do most of the maintenance yourself. Just like your RV, the older it gets the more maintenance and repairs it will need.

Well, for one, I've never had a contractor tell me "Sorry, I didn't build your house, so I won't work on it". Nor would I need to have my cabin towed 200 miles to the nearest place that would work on it. And then find out they can't fix it for 4 months.
I'm learning what I can, but I don't have a flat paved driveway to work on anything tire or suspension related, there's just only so much you can do yourself depending on many things, not having access to a nearby repair place is ridiculous. But I'm in too deep now to go back.
