Shade Pro awning fabric replacement
We need our awning fabric replaced. I am looking at Shade Pro, because they offer an acrylic fabric replacement with a metal cover, which I have been unable to find elsewhere. The cover is important to me, it is a must have in my opinion.
Has anyone dealt with this company and had an awning replacement shipped with the cover? I am willing to install myself because they don't offer installation in our area. Just want to know if people are satisfied with their order.
Thanks.

Bought an awning canvas from them earlier this year. Ou Dometic awning already had the metal cover. (actually didn’t think ShadePro or anyone sold the metal covers but if they do, shipping is going to be a killer).
We’re pleased with the product. The order went smoothly and initial contact was comforting, but they soon lagged in their responsiveness and shipment status. In the end, sometimes patience is a virtue.
It just happens I have a brand new 14’ spare fabric that I ordered that is set up for a 6 slat metal cover. Our cover has 5 - and I didn’t discover the problem until after installing.
Just saying if anyone needs a deal on a 14’ Walnut Brown awnings fabric set up for a 6 piece metal cover (see the Classified section ) - cover not included.

We bought two Carefree slide toppers (awning) from ShadePro last year and they shipped promptly and answered all my questions.
I was very happy to do business with them.

I ordered a 20-Ft awning from Shade Pro on the 28th. of February and received it March 9th. That's pretty good service as far as I am concerned. I already had the 6 slat metal shield and I installed it myself with my wife and sons help. No cooperation from the terrible winds we were having at the time but we managed to get it installed. I see they do offer an awing with a metal shield, shipping I believe is included on orders over $99.00. I went with an acrylic over the vinyl. If you have any questions be sure to ask them. I was pleased with the service! Here are a couple pictures of the awning I choose. I ended up having to order the front torsion spring as well but that's another story and learning experience!

Thank you for the replies. Our awning did not come with the metal cover originally and I would like to add one, also go with the acrylic over the vinyl. I will have to call them and ask about the shipping though, might be cost prohibitive to Illinois.
I wish they had installers in other parts of the country other than the Southwest.

The install isn’t all that hard if you are mechanically inclined and able.
The only unusual tool that will be needed is a rivit tool which can be found pretty cheap at places like Northern Tool or Amazon.
Instructions for replacement can easily be found with a little searching on the internet. There are also good videos on YouTube that can help you see through the process.
I replaced my first one myself, but it really helped when a friend came to help on the 2nd one.

OP here. Well, I ordered the 5 year warranty, heavy duty vinyl fabric. As much as I would have loved to go with the acrylic and cover, I couldn't justify the cost. This RV is 17 years old, with 110,000 miles. I can't see putting that kind of money into it, at least for an awning I seldom use.
I also looked at Stonevos, they had a superior product but again the cost was much greater than what I wanted to spend.
I called Shadepro and asked some questions, they were very helpful. Hopefully the install will go well. My wife and I will be doing it, and I may ask a friend to help as well.
Thanks for all the responses.

Get the service manual for the awning and follow it closely - especially the part where you have to unwind and rewind the springs. There are some good videos on YouTube as well for how to replace.
I did my first one virtually by myself - other than removing the assembly from the side of the coach and carrying over to my sawhorses, then to get the bead slid into the roller and metal shields, and then to reinstall onto coach.

Dometic 8500 acrylic awning replacement, Shade Pro
We ordered an acrylic fabric replacement for our Dometic 8500 manual awning in January. We have a 6-slat metal cover (weathershield) but they sent us one for a 5 slat. We didn't realize the mistake until we installed it. Ugh. Anyway, they came out (we're in Yuma) and saw it was the wrong one so they replaced the fabric at no charge. (This did not include them installing it, they don't do installs of anything except their own products).
They let us keep the "mistake". We would like to sell it, if anyone is interested It's for an 18ft awning and color is beige tweed. Again, for a 5 slat, or it could be installed with no metal cover at all. Nice fabric and a must for hot climates I believe I still have it listed in the classifieds here on iRV2.
