It might be more enjoyable if you drive it

It might be more enjoyable if you drive there, check the scenery, maybe stop at a place or two, and rent a car to drive back. It's a short trip and you can drive it over a weekend.

Try talking to some rv dealers in your area. They mostly all use a service to deliver their units from the factory. At least you'll have a known company to deal with.

The OP has posted twice that he is now going to drive his motorhome to AZ and ship his van.

Delivery drivers are running around $2/mile these days - that includes their fuel.

I had to trailer my 26’ Mercedes Sprinter based RV four miles. It cost my insurance company $1400 and they went for the least expensive. That was in Western Colorado. I can’t imagine what it would cost in California.

The OP can probably fly back cheaper than a rental car would cost these days.

You just pay the expenses, rby's will do and I'll work on tips. I drive a 42' Fleetwood and so far so good

We moved from NorCal to Texas a few years ago. We have two trucks and two trailers (5th wheel toy hauler, and a 12' enclosed cargo trailer). We did the 1700 mile trip twice to get everything there. It was actually pretty enjoyable. We took the small truck and trailer first, to "map out" the route and plan fuel stops and camping places for the second trip with the fiver. This also allowed us to transport our most critical possessions ourselves rather than trusting them to the moving company. Good luck with your move!

Shipping a motorhome

How old are your tires? Something to think about.
Otherwise I wouldn’t be too worried about reliability if it’s a Diesel.

Take some fuel filters and filter wrench with you and know how to change them and prime the system.

Take it your mechanic and have it serviced and inspected and drive it, or hire a driver. Your motorhome will love you for it.
