We purchase nearly everything there anymore. Shipping is always 2 day delivery at no cost.

Just for information.

Amazon Prime is a GREAT deal and it's now just $79 per year! You can stream movies and TV shows for FREE (cheaper than Netflix), download a free e-book every month and the FREE 2-day shipping on top of that! Plus if you cancel before the year is up , they refund the prorated difference. We did almost all Christmas shopping there and all my RV stuff except batteries has been ordered from there.

we bought a few rc electric airplanes and they wanted $30 freight. I ordered two motor shafts from another plane source and get this, the shafts are very small and light. even with the packaging it was about 6 ozs. they wanted $30 for the shafts and freight. I had two good ones, will take the shafts to a friend of mine who will make me some new ones on his lathe. shipping is getting out of hand

IMHO a lot of sellers make up for cheap prices with high shipping costs. I sell a lot on e-bay and use either USPS flat rate boxes or UPS. You can add delivery conformation to USPS shipping. UPS shipping, depending where you live, is about $1.00 per pound. I always add in the shipping cost when I buy something on line. If shipping cost is outragous I don't order it.

Also, if you absolutely positively need something the next day, it's only $3.99 if you have Amazon Prime.

Despite what was said in a previous, IMHO it's much faster and cheaper (don't forget your gas costs money) to find exactly what I want online rather than running from store to store trying to find it and then having to settle for something else because no one has the one you want in stock.

I had a portable 30Amp Surge Guard sent to Halifax, Nova Scotia from Camping World. When it arrived at my door it cost me an additional $96.00.Cdn, which right now is almost $96.00 US, for shipping and customs. I am a Newbe and paid for it. The worst part was that it was the wrong part that I ordered. Sent it back through the postal service, US and Canadian, for an additional $15.00. Thankfully they took it back, prearranged of course. Stupid me. That won't happen again.

I will not buy or ship anything sent by USPS. I have had multiple problems with theft of packages, (tire monitor system, for one), undelivered mail, mail delivered to neighbors, delayed mail, (just got a Christmas card mailed December 1). The clincher was 8 fraudulent charges that showed up on my Visa for USPS.com. They need to just go away and let private enterprise do the shipping. This is a very sick organization.
Sorry for offending any current or retired postal workers, but my experience has not been good.

They are being honest, that's why shipping costs so much!

Go buy a box, the bubble wrap, your time to pick and pack the items, then take it to UPS or Fed Ex or USPS and find out the true shipping costs. I think you'll be surprised!!

Amazon is terrific and the Prime service beats anything out there. It's extremely rare that I can't find what I need on Amazon. And if they choose to use USPS for delivery and it gets "lost", I just call them up and they deal with it.
Almost always though it comes via independent contractor or UPS/FedEx.
Currently watching the entire "Lost" series on Amazon Prime streaming, better than Netflix!

I wouldn't let anyone ship anything to me via Oops. They lost two 1/2 ton mint masters back a few years ago that resulted in the striking of the first Canadian general use $1.00 coin which is now known as the Looney.

I ordered a product from a company in Miami Fl and they only showed OOPS on their shipping so I called the main office and asked if the could ship me the package via USPS because of all the nonsense add on charges put forth to the customer by OOPS and they said sure. So instead of $22.00 shipping, $39.00 brokerage, $14.00 customs I paid $6.95 for USPS.

I got a free CD years ago when I lived in Victoria to do a review of it for a magazine I submit articles too. OOPS wanted $39.95 brokerage fee, and an additional $10.00 for delivering to a multiple unit building with a security system. I told the driver to send it back and he started yelling at me.

Possum, you may want to put some blame on your gov't and customs...it is not all UPS's fault in your situations..

Like I said..all shippers have probs....but if a problem does occur...good luck with USPS

and anyone NOT sending to Alaska or HI or PR or VI via USPS is loosing customers...same price to ALL of the USA, not just the lower 48 when shipping flat rate. I never charge extra to ship via USPS to AK, or HI or PR or VI

Not quite true, the same disc arrived in my mail box about two weeks later via USPS, no extra hidden charges. Even stuff identified and indicated on the shipping label as duty and excise free they put the $39.95 charge on.

Like the wise man once said, YMMV but I can track via USPS and so far (touch wood) I haven't lost anything in the mail.

Why can Overstock.Com ship the package for less than 3 bucks? Recently had shocks sent to me, very heavy, for fifteen. Someone is making money.

We have gotten lots of things over the years from online. We have sold our share of stuff online too.
We have had things shipped by all of them - UPS, USPS, FedEx - and all 3 have their problems and prices.
We have shipped by all three - UPS, USPS, FedEx - and all 3 again have their problems and prices.
The most common problem when shipping to us is when the person on the other end does not put our correct address on the label. Luckily they've used the correct and complete 9 numbered zip code and it's found us.
We actually perfer the USPS one price boxes, no surprises when sending or receiving with them. We've shipped all over the world that way. The youngest is still in the military so yes we've shipped all over the world.
