Should I Rejoin FMCA for the Magazine?

I go back and forth between boats and motor homes. I try not to own both money eaters at the same time. When I am boating I enjoy reading magazines about boats and boating. Same behavior when I am driving around in a motor home...I enjoy magazines about motor homes and recreational vehicles in general.

I just sold the boat and am wondering if I should rejoin FMCA so I can read their magazine. I have never used any of their other deals or programs.

And, are there any other magazines out there that are worth reading?

In my opinion, no. I don't know how long it has been since you were a member, but there are now more interesting benefits. Check out the new FMCAssist that covers you when you are only 75 miles from home. You do not have to be in an rv to be covered

I used to like/subscribe to "Motorhome" magazine but then Marcus Lemonis or whoever bought it and ruined it. It's all Camping World advertising and severely slanted to his brand and flavoring, but then again it is his mag so...

I belong to FMCA and enjoy their mag stuff, which I think is now available electronically. They also have their own slant on things but at least it's more than one brand. FMCA also has a decent "learning library" of popular topics that one can use to be smarter about whatever it is you're about to destroy trying to fix it...

There does seem to be some other rags out there, but nothing has caught my attention yet. YMMV...

No. The Jan issue had an article on 5th wheel hitches and how a 3/4 ton truck could pull just about all 5th wheels. Not even a mention of load carrying capacity or pin weight.

Join for the magazine? Heck no. Over the years the content has dwindled to basically nothing. I think it's worthless.

If you re-join, join for the other benefits, not the crappy magazine.

Agree. All clubs or membership organizations magazines are basically worthless. Don't know why they bother.

Escapees magazine is still pretty good. You can get digital copies of the current as well as going back a few years so there's some good RV related reading.

No. There are very few articles for the motor home owner in the magazine. It's mostly ads.

January issue? Shoot, I haven't received an FMCA magazine in a year or more. I keep paying dues for the medical assist program only.

I guess I’m a rarity as I do enjoy the magazine. It’s not my reason for being a member but I do read it cover to cover monthly.

I used to read the magazine when it was about motorhomes, however, after their switch to all RV's, I barely glance through it and rarely find anything worth reading. We still belong to FMCA because of the the Four Wheelers Club, but after selling our coach, I'll probably drop the membership. We don't subscribe to the side benefits as we already have those from other memberships or our insurance. The publication has most definitely gone down hill.

Suggest that you spend your time researching threads on this and similar forums. The You-tube channels that spend time at the RV shows reviewing new coaches are also information sources that may help provide you with appropriate data on RVs of interest.

I've been a member of FMCA since 2005. I rarely read their magazine and I don't use any of their services. I'm a member because I believe they provide a service to the RV community that often benefits all of us, even though it may not be obvious.

It's not always what you can get out of them.
