Does it kind of make you wonder? The OP blows off a lot of steam at the beginning of this thread. Then we hear nothing back until post# 84 when we get the Paul Harvey rest of the story.
Hmmmmm.

Lots of hurt feelings here. If it’s hot or for any other reason if I need to run my generator I probably would. I like peace and quiet just like everyone else but I give others a break with this hot weather we’ve had. I would feel pretty bad if the older person needing to stay cool or run his CPAP couldn’t do that. Remember older individuals are more prone to dying due to heat. We may have a presumed right to quiet but others have a greater right to try to maintain their comfort or ability to live. We can’t always be focused on only ourselves and what makes us happy. I think this country could use a large helping of compassion and understanding.
I might have knocked on their door and asked if there was anything I could do to help.
Most premier resorts that charge more than $200 per night are quieter than a church mouse. Make reservations early and you will never have to put up with such behavior ever again.
I will make a firm pledge right now. The next person I meet that runs a contractor style generator, even if that’s all he can afford , I will personally buy them a new Honda generator that barely makes any noise. I expect everyone to do the same. Let’s stamp out all this excess noise that is not only irritating but it is probably leading to early hearing problems. This should probably be covered by some type of government disability payment. I deserve peace and quiet and I expect someone else to pay my costs. That’s the new American way. Boy I love this country.
Just checked with my tax advisor. This cost to buy generators for “those people” could be deductible on your taxes. Keep all receipts and submit to your financial advisor or tax consultant for the proper forms. I think this entails Good Samaritan charity donations.
I feel better already.

Better invest in some ear plugs! There will be other times.
If this clown was considerate he would have moved as far away from people with his generator facing away from others (maybe he did). Some people are inconsiderate these days. However, I don't blame him for wanting his A/C. But coming in at 1:00 a.m. and starting it is a rather rude awakening. It's all part of living the RV experience now that more people have them. I don't expect things to improve. Especially when dry camping or boondocking.

Hmmmmm.
I'm still of the opinion he should have asked for a refund since he didn't get the service he expected....

there were about 20 rigs in the parking lot all with their windows open due to the warm weather. I'd estimate about 100 feet from the actual casino building. Now I'm understanding why casino's have changed their parking rules and now not letting moho's with gen sets park in the casino lots. Many vegas casinos are no longer allowing RV's to park in their lots while others are now charging for car parking. New RV park rates are driving folks to boonparklot rather than stay in parks.
Instead of opening the windows and suffering in the heat, why not all of you fire up the generators and turn on the A/Cs. As I alluded to in an earlier post, if you had to routinely deal with "real" heat, you would see your A/Cs, and the generators that allow them to run, as potential lifesavers.
By the way, you were staying in a Casino parking lot for nothing. Did you go in and gamble? You bitch about a little noise when you are freeloading?

Fortunately I don't think the "rules by damned I'll do what I want types" represent RVers in general. At least that isn't my experience.

We were spending the night ar a Flying J one night when an old, small class c parked next to us. He was pulling an open trailer and proceeded to pull out a contractor generator and start it up. It ran all night and when I looked in the morning it was obvious they had everything they owned in that trailer. That generator was probably the only power source they had, and I was happy I didn't complain.

I agree 100%. It's always going to be something so sometimes you just have to make the best of it. That's part of what it's all about.

I personally would have simply shut my windows and turned my gen on as well, along with the AC. Problem solved

How many more pages?

I got tired of this issue and my mind wandered to this:
The more the thread gets people riled up on an issue the more pages and ads there will be. I wonder how many threads like that are started by themselves.

Wonder about what? The OP came back within a a day or so. Seems very reasonable to me.

interesting. my cpap runs off 12 volts dc. like all of them. but for a night or two it will not kill anyone to not use-said.
but as others have said here. you received what you paid for. try living in a commercial truck. truck stops are noisy 24-7-365.
maybe there was some kind of real medical problem? but then if one needs a gen. at least they can buy a quiet one.
things do happen.

Is there a rule that says no generator after a certain hr?

I would rather have AC and put up with the noise. Get some earplugs. Jeez, people are so precious these days.
