Sitting here in Alaska where the RV was at 95F. The AC is now on. It happens that we have shore power, but believe me we would not be sweating all night if some precious individual was distressed by the low level noise of my generator. I would be running it. Sweat trumps sones every time.

So, wait, please, let me understand your position.
It sounds like you are saying:
. I choose to stay in a free parking area at a Casino because I don't want to pay for a campsite.
. I further choose not to abide by the rules set by the owners of that lot because I don't find their rules convenient.
If I understand your position, you're the perfect example of the problem in this entire discussion.

I don't think that is the problem. Putting rules in writing or on signs is ONLY for those that know how to read. Chuck

It's not selfish, it's common sense.

The most important thing here, there is a rule in place stating not to run the genset after 10 pm. You, I, others may not understand why the rule is in place but it's there for a reason and should be followed.
Second, it wasn't a muffled genset we're talking about here. The OP described it as being a loud contractor's generator parked right outside his window.
The way I see it, it would be on me to figure out what my next step would be if I arrived at this particular casino's parking lot and spotted the no genset after 10 pm rule. It would NOT be ok for me to ignore the rule and run my generator just because I was hot. I would need to be the responsible/respectful adult here and either put up with the heat like everyone else parked there is doing or move on.
I'll certainly admit that I don't handle the heat very well. I need air conditioning to sleep. However, that's my problem and is something I need to deal with myself. I need to plan ahead and if something ends up going awry, deal with that problem in a way that doesn't screw with others.
On your comment about temperature and humidity, I live in southeast Texas, an area that probably has your numbers beat.

Maybe next time you could share your concerns with the people running the genset instead of thousands of people who did nothing on this forum

And maybe you shouldn't read threads like this on a public forum
Over 225 replies , and kept members entertained it seems......
I find your post to be on the rude side.......

Hi folks,
Well I have read all 256 post twice, some of us are slow.
When I read the original post and then read 256 post yet a second time I still interpret the meaning "no gen sets after 10 PM" as the OP's person opinion given he/she must have window open and is a lite sleeper. Yes I know clarification was later made.
Landlord rules rule as I originally stated. Absent rules, public free parking I would expect noise at all times including.road noise, ariving and departing traffic and yes generators.
Personally I am a very light sleep, very very lite
If at all possible I sleep with the AC fan on. Therefore we don't park in noise free lots (while in a transit mode).

How can you have read 256 posts if you are #247?

Every cloud has a silver lining.

I have tinnitus and most times even a generator running can't drown out the the never ending roar in my ears.
It can really drive a person nuts

I said before I saw no posted rules but several have confirmed 7 feathers has POSTED rules NO GENSET. Very SIMPLE! If there are posted rules follow them!
Facts From What I see is It was a Trailer. (hot from days travel?).. (Genset in the pickup bed) and hot night.... people had their windows open in fact the OPs window was right next to the pickup bed and nobody else was running a Genset.
7 Feathers posted the rules and I doubt asking them ( security )to enforce them will cause them to stop offering "free" parking as some were concerned... In fact, I'm surprised security took so long to respond and that their own patrol didn't stop it sooner! I would fault them also. They patrolled that lot all the time when I was there. Follow the rules ....but then again its a free lot and people gonna be people

Not that it matters but the OP's reply, #84,
Quote:
Yes, it was an open bed pickup with a loud construction style gen set in the bed to power a trailer. It even came with a cylinder miss.
|
The OP did state in a later post that his is 3 times louder than that construction generator. That's surprising to me. Was that a mistype or are RV diesel sets really that loud?
