slide-out adjustment

Is it safe to adjust the travel of a slide-out? One of mine is 1/2 inch short of being out all the way. Can I adjust it safely wit the nut on the shaft? Has anyone done this before?

Not sure what type of rig you own as it is not stated, however it sounds as though your slide has gotten out of sync between one end and the other.

My slide-out motors are made by Power Gear and I found a manual on their web site for re-syncing the slide. I attempted it several times with no success so I ended up taking it to Alliance Coach in Wildwood FL where they spent a few hours straightening it out and checking as to why it got out of sync in the first place.

They are an excellent repair facility.

Contact: mrmiller@forestriverinc.com He can direct your inquiry for a manual for one of their products (they have 46) to the appropriate department for assistance with your Cardinal 5er. The installation manual will contain instructions for adjustment of your slide.

FYI, I found that email address here. I assumed it is not out-dated. Another source might be here.

Dave Woodward, at myrvpartsplace.com, was more than helpful with info. Sent how to adjust sheets form the manufacturer. I haven't tried to adjust yet. It is too cold down on the tip of Texas.

Is the 1/2 inch a problem? If you knew the tolerance,it would help.I have never looked(in 8 years) to see if my slide-out is 1/2 inch off!!
