Slide seal conditioners

Can silicone lube be used to condition and clean slide out seals?

I used a slide seal lube I got really cheap, it has turned into a very thick sticky substance. I plan to remove it and go back to silicone spray after I get the ends of my slide rooms cleaned of that sticky stuff.
