Installing that means getting on a ladder. I don't get on a ladder unless absolutely, positively, necessary.
I don't think I could talk the DW into getting on one either

I don't think you'd need a ladder, it's the length of the slide, so put one end up, then push the other end up with a pole. With an eye on the support and a hook on the pole, taking it back down is just as easy.

That sound simple, but don't think it would work!

Why? Because it's too simple? LMAO.

Ingenious. Looks like a good idea, especially for extended stays.
I saw a guy using beach balls. He blew up the beach balls only enough to support the topper. He then pushed them under the topper with a broom to a strategic location. He used three or four under each topper.
He then retrieved the beach balls with the broom, when ready to run the slides back in.
Inflatable beach ball (or other inflatable pool accessory) would be pretty easy to store and cheap to replace.

I have also read about using inflatable floats to support the awnings.

I made a very similar support for our last coach. I got tired of having to get the ladder out each time to insert and remove so I tried using poles. After much trial and a lot of error I finally figured inserting the support can be done but it ain't easy!!! I set one end on the top edge of the slide, used a pvc pole with a V on the end to lift and push the support in place. One thing that helped was adding a 6" stub sticking out from the middle lof the end support with an eye on the end. The stub allows lifting and pushing on the support easier and the eye allows you to grab and pull the support out. The pole I made had the V on one end and a hook on the other, worked fairly well after getting the bugs out.

It might work if you have a pole with a "V" at the top to fit under the round PVC. You could raise the end up to level, but you've still got to shove it under the awning. If the support is made properly it will be putting pressure upward on the awning as it slides in. I just don't think it would be as easy as you think! I still think a ladder would be easier.

After you get one end started it actually slides in pretty easy. My first couple of models didn't have the stub to lift and push with, adding the stub made it easier. Next mod was to add the eye to pull the support out, had to get on a ladder to get it out before the eye was added. Again, once you get it started it slides in pretty easy.
I put a third set of feet in the middle of the support with holes for pins on one side, that's where I took it apart for storage.
