Slide water damage

I have a Jayco 28.5 RSTS fifth wheel. It has three slides. If you have looked fairly closely at the outside bottom of your slide you will notice that the floor or plywood edge has been rapped with some type of water protectant material to keep the plywood from getting wet. We know what happens after it get wet. My problem is that my kitchen slide does not have that same material rapped around the edge to protect the plywood. I notice the other day that the plywood has started to swell. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do about this or does anyone know that that rap material is called and where to get it. Thanks in advance for the information.

If the plywood is already starting to swell, it may need to be replaced. I know what material you are talking about, but can't think of the name for it.
If going to replace the plywood, suggest a marine grade then coat it with a good paint to seal.

The material is the same thing they use to make dog food bags - the plastic weave material that degrades in UV sunlight. Which is honestly no surprise given that it's the RV industry.

The plywood is not deuterated to the point it needs replaced. I am pretty sure my inspections have caught it in time.* Has anyone used the product Flex Seal before. I was thinking on coating the edge of the plywood with Flex seal and maybe paint Flex Seal about 2 inches into the bottom of the slide. Man is Flex Seal expensive. Another idea was to lay a 4-inch fiber glass cloth sheet across the edge and bottom then fiberglass it. Making an end cap. I just wished RV manufactures would do it right before you buy.*

Instead of flex seal I would use epoxy, like a 2 part from west systems. Maybe drill a few small holes to get some penetration. That would water proof and harden it

Since it's plywood, I would heavily paint it with varnish/polyurethane, letting it soak in. You need to seal the wood pores before you put something like Flex Seal over it. The plywood will not absorb into the wood, only cover it. Once you've applied several coats of varnish or polyurethane, then you can use a rubberized sealer/undercoat over it.
