Snowbird ideas for serious angler

We are in the process of planning our winter RV trip. My husband is a serious angler. He loves shore fishing, charter fishing, peer fishing. Looking for new ideas on where to go this winter. Last winter we were in South Padre Texas and absolutely loved it. Thanks.

Does your destination drive the fishing, or the other way around? There are some great crappie fishing lakes down south in TX, LA, MS, AL, GA, FL. There are crappie guides that will provide you/your hubby with a full service guided trip. Just depends on where and when.

The Lake Okeechobee area is one big fish camp. Our friends are avid crappie fishermen and they winter there and fish most days. It's also a big bass lake.

upriver.com is on the Caloosahatchee River in N. Ft. Myers, FL. Rather than try to explain the amenities, I included their website.
Matter of fact, they left me a phone message Wed. telling me they had a cancellation and I'm at the top of the waiting list. I've already made reservations elsewhere though.

We have arguably the best trout fishing in the country here at the White River in Arkansas. But it does get really cold, and it's not really a destination type place in the winter. But the campground is excellent as is the fishing. And you are limited to a 2 week stay.(Bull Shoals/White River State Park)

I come back to oregon for September through December. I fish Chinook, coho, steelhead, trout and there are fishing charters. It is not for the faint hearted but worth the fun. We also are here for deer and elk season. Coastal temperature keep above freezing primarily, but you have to deal with the rain.

if doing winter in that area some real fishing is not far either )just kidding aout the "real thing" I enjoy crappy fishing now and again). Lost of snook and reds and tarpon to be had anywhwere from naples to miami on us 41, tons of charters on either coast for flats fishing or open water for even bigger fish.

You can bass and crappy fish one day, snook and red the next, and go grab some grouper offshore the third almost anywhere in south florida.

One day last year i landed a snook a largmouth bass and a small tarpon from the same spot on a canal just a little south of us 41. i also almost pissed myself landing the bass as a gator i had not seen decided he wanted to try and take the bass off my line. That was the end of fishing for that day.

I love to fish and am a serious striped bass angler. We will spend our first January on the Gulf at Port Aransas, TX which is just north of Padre. What kind of fishing were you able to get into when you were there?

I plan to hire a guide to take me inshore fishing. I would also consider gulf fishing on a charter.

The fishing is fun and varied in the South Padre area. We do charter fishing for red snapper, Getty fishing for whiting and sheepshead, and shore fishing for red and black drum and whiting. Port Aransas is another really fun winter spot. You'll enjoy it.
