Snowbird virgin
Well, after one camping trip to debug the new-to-us 35-ft class-A,
we've decided to escape for three months this winter.
Problem is that our 1st choice campground was Gulf Shores AL (close to family & friends) but they are already full and not taking any more reservations.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a nice southern campground for a warm winter visit ?
thanks, Al

We spent a week here: Johnnys RV Resort - Near Gulf Shores, Alabama
on our way home two years ago. Hope it helps you out.

Go to the Google search bar and type in "RV Parks Gulf Shores AL" then click on the small map it pull up. It list several in that area.

http://www.rcparkreviews.com is a useful tool for campground choices. Some of the reviews are biased one way or another so I usually throw out the worst and the best and use common sense.

There are CGs all over and around GS, you can probably find one with some more research.

Gulf Shores State Park keeps 10% sites unreserved, I think. You might want to check with them to ensure I'm correct. We stopped there early in Nov. and were told that because we were early in the winter season and they assigned us one of the 10% we could stay the winter.

ParTheCourse - thanks for suggesting Johnny's .... I'm looking at them.
DtBt - thanks for steering me to the review-site . . . I will use it.
sunshineOH - you are correct about GS & 10% ... I'm just not brave enough to drive the 1200 miles in December and hope they have a 3-month site for me - lol
Thanks all for the campground web-search suggestions, but finding campgrounds isn't my issue..... I can find them easy enough, but I can't determine if they have enough laundry capability to support a flock of snowbirds and whether or not their "fit for a KING" showers & bath are fit for kings or dogs.... and whether they will accept forwarded mail .....they seem to leave these lil' snowbird details off their webpages and I'm hoping some forum members might have some personal experience's with the Gulf Shores area sites to share, or any of the Gulf areas, as long as it helps keep me nice & warm this winter

We stayed at Luxury RV last October. It's within 2 blocks of the beach - well within walking distance. The pad are concrete but very little landscaping. Two laundry rooms which was sufficient. WiFi was iffy. Given a choice, I'd opt for the state park because there was grass inbetween sites.

I can already hear Madonna singing the chorus, "Like a Virgin, snowbirding for the very first time, Like a Virgin, lookin for a place to spend some time"
Sorry, I couldn't resist...

Try Anchors Aweigh RV Resort, about 5 minutes up 59 from Gulf Shores. We stay there everytime we are down there and have never been disappointed. Anne & Rodney are great people.... Google Anchors Aweigh, you can find everything you need to know.....
