So as we watch the unrelenting snow continue to fall I was wondering how many of you are in your RV's in the snow. With a large part of the south experience record cold and snow I'm guessing there are a lot of us. Post your pics and tell your war stories !! I decided to exercise the genny before it got too bad. After I got it warmed up and ready I shut it off and the transfer switch started chattering on shore power. I had to rewire the shore power to the other side in the snow and 10 degree wind chill. We have been toasty warm since though even at 0 degrees. 16 Inches of snow and counting here in Little rock Arkansas. The pic of my rig is after the first 8 inches, the other is this morning with about 12" on the ground.

I have been watching the weather from Canada and up here we expect bad weather. Winter is winter and summer is summer. Sure we get storms and such but I cannot imagine what you people live with in the United States.

Floods, Hurricanes tornadoes. Drought heat waves. Now ice and snow. It just seems to go on and on.

Like Ted; I'm watching the current weather in the USA from my S&B in Canada .
Only the second time in the past 15 years that I've had the pleasure .
For most of my life I enjoyed Canadian winters , skiing , snowmobiling and curling . Worked outside in temps/wind chills to -50 , those temps happened every second or third winter , so we expected them and had all the clothing and supplies to deal with them .
Good thing that I held onto most of the equipment trough a move from the interior of BC to the lower coast . 20 year old snowmobile outfit doesn't look great , but I'm warm and I don't care about looks .
Pictures are the snow covered " Lost Moose " in my yard , and a highway trip to the BC interior in Sept. of 2019, and people ask why the tires on the Moose are traction tread.
Hope that the signs of a thaw in Alberta ( well an Alberta style thaw ; temps up from -38C to -13C this week ) continue and the slightly warmer trend quickly gets to the southern USA.

We are not in the RV, which has been winterized and stored, partly due to covid. But Dallas area has really suffered in this storm with 6 consecutive days that temperatures failed to reach freezing and lows in the single digit numbers(F). We are glad not to be in the RV with the frequent and extended power outages as it could make for a miserable experience. We got up near 30 today so roads have begun to improve and tomorrow we should get above 32 again!

We have spent a couple winters in our MADP at 7000' in northern Arizona. Always comfortable, no problems.

Our hearts go out to those suffering in the cold wave that is hitting the southern states now. I know that a lot of you are there specifically to avoid experiencing winter, and now you are forced to deal with it, ready or not. And I am not just speaking of our RV-ing brethren, but also all residents of the affected areas.

As a resident of Idaho, we expect this kind of cold every winter, which is why we have to blow out our sprinkler systems, don't have plumbing in our home attics, winterize our RV's, make sure our snowblowers are tuned up and ready, have our snowmelt at hand, and our gutter and roof valley heaters plugged in. I feel bad for those whose lives, homes and power grids are not prepared to experience this kind of situation, and are dealing with the effects of frozen pipes, loss of water and power, and all of the downstream ramifications of this terrible situation.

Please do not become complacent once this passes and everything is back to "normal" for a while. We will see more of this kind of extreme weather going forward, and will have more of these type of previously "rare" weather extremes as time goes by. If you survive this one, do what you have to do to be ready for the next one.

We have spent most of the last 6 months in Colorado and Wyoming. Numerous snowstorms and a couple of weeks of truly cold weather.

The only trouble that we’ve had is in our driveway at home, during the couple of weeks we have been home. Working on the aqua hot and fuel lines in the driveway with the bay doors open some water lines froze. No damage.

Out here on the permanent road trip, no trouble to report. This pic was taken yesterday in Golden CO. It had warmed up a lot before the snow. It was well below zero several times this weekend, then about 6" of snow for the yorkies to stomp around in.

This pic was taken in our best moochdocking location. I put RV hookups at the warehouse where I work in the area lol. Too bad the door is about 6" short

Well put. When I think of my large checklist for preparing our northern home for winter just in case the heat fails I realize I'm fortunate that the winter experience has taught me what needs done and the consequences of not doing it.

When I saw people commenting on that apartment hallway ceiling fan with the very large icicles hanging from it, no one mentioned "Ummm, icicles do not form out of cold air. Where the the water come from that froze into those icicles?"

Yes, warmer weather and the restoration of power, water pressure, and heating is going to bring a whole set of different problems to those unfortunate people.

And since the commenters on this thread so far all have DP's, I'm really hoping that some people with gassers will contribute. We've never used this thing colder than the low 20's and that was really just overnight once. No freezing weather where we're at, which actually is OK with me.
