Does anyone have the large Solo stove? It seems like it might be nice to have a small campfire using sticks and twigs you can gather in the woods. It's getting so much more difficult to bring your own firewood. Would like opinions. Thanks!

We have many enjoyable hours around our propane campfire. No wood, no smoke, no sparks, no stink, easy lighting, easy putting out. It can be used where wood fires are not practical or allowed. Ours is the stainless steel New Frontier Campfire, no longer available I believe. However, there are many brands to choose from today. The video below will show you the unit we have enjoyed for over a dozen years.

Pretty expensive for a really small fire... There are alot of portable fire pits, mostly propane, that are a decent size for more than 2 people huddled up right in front of. And just how long will a batch of sticks & twigs burn? 10 minutes? And then you're adding more? Seems like it might be a decent backpacking stove, but not much of a "campfire". JMHO.

There is something about a wood fire that just warms my being. The smell, the crackling, the constant change of it's appearance. Nope I will stick to wood campfire and propane for my stove. Still cook on a wood/charcoal fire exclusively when BBQing.

Oh, I actually agree. I'd much rather have a wood fire than a propane one, however I do carry a campchef propane fit pit for those times when wood fires are not allowed, or for a quick setup/takedown.

But the tiny little thing that the OP is asking about wouldn't do anything for me. Not to mention that it would require near constant feeding of small sticks.

And some places will not allow scavenging for wood. Indiana State parks do not allow this and it is posted plainly in their campgrounds.
