Sometimes I just hate this motorhome of mine.
This spring I fixed the following:
A leaky toilet bowl valve
A leaky waste gate valve
A mess of little problems with the water heater
- The 12V on/off switch >>> high resistant contacts and the little internal light was burned out
- The thermostat and ECO switches >>> the plastic rings that hold them tight against the tank were busted
- The lousy electronic controller was flat out bad
- And finally replaced the gas valve >>> the flame would not stay on when I closed the motorhome door, OK when the Atwood door was closed, but not the Winnebago compartment door.
- (I don’t have the courage to test the heater on AC)
A leaky (foggy) dual pane window
A leaky O ring in the engine AC system >>> this one fixed by a pro
A new solenoid so that the engine charges the house batteries
A new house battery charger that has some brains so that I can l leave the thing plugged in and that additional circuit that keeps the engine battery charged
So the order of business today was to weigh this pig and discover what kind of diet I was going on. The good news ….. I have 1500 pounds of excess capacity…. Get me a beer woman!
All right, three more things to check before we can hit the road.
First, let’s see how those leveling jacks are working… lousy pieces of crap…. Nothing. No indicator lights… nothing.
No one has been working in this area of the MH. I have battery voltage at the pump. The squirrels and mice haven’t made a home there. It was working last fall.
OK…. Here is a first for me. Unplug and replug all of the connectors on the controller. Retest. Indicator lights are on. The jacks are going down. Happy days are here again.
Tomorrow we check the gutter seams. Wish me luck.

Hah, go look up my story in the Cummins forum titled "dropped a valve in #6". Also replaced 4 - 8 D house batteries, 4- 925 CCA starting batteries, three foggy windows, 8 tires and 8 internal TPMS sensors. Two televisions, and added an air line for the toweds brakes in two years.
Oh yes, my wife of 30 years died.
There's more but that's a start

Sounds like the starting capacitor went out. I've had that at the house too.

I sold my coach last week and as much as I hated it at those times when it got costly I hated to see it leave.
We now have a Fifth Wheel and it will be another learning curve. We have had them before but we are a little spoiled now.
No matter what RV you have it always needs something!

That is actually a pretty short list. My brother has a new Forest River Champagne Edition 5th wheel and I have spent more time working on it than he has used it. He will be back on Thursday from a two week trip to the Oregon coast.
I now have two roof leaks to fix, a leak in the dishwasher plumbing, a mirror that is almost separated from a sliding door in the bedroom and a screen door latch that is jammed.
Luckily I enjoy helping him. Thank goodness that the unit is only about a year old. Can't think what it will be like during the next year or two. Maybe we have reached a time where the problems will stop, I doubt it though.
Everyone experiences problems and it helps to expect them and enjoy your time in the RV.

Just fix it one step at a time sounds like a normal rig to me. Got to have something to do to fill a void in those days when you aren't busy beats yard work.

I've found over the years that if you don't like fixing stuff you should not have an RV.
