It's that time again. What is recommended to flush out the winter antifreeze and to clean out the lines for fresh water? a little bleach or???

You can chlorinate the fresh water tank and lines by using 1/4 cup bleach to 15 gallons of water. Fill the tank, run the pump to each hot and cold faucet until you can smell the bleach. let it stand for 3 hours and then flush it all out.

Thats why I don't use antifreeze in the water lines. Let me explain before all the RV'er gods come down on me. I live in an shore area and for years people have had summer homes that sit vacent all winter. The house is winterizzed just like an RV except the water lines are blowen out with compressed air. AF is used in the traps and toilet thats it. Thast how I've been doing it for 40 some years and never had a problem.

Using air to blow out the lines is great Ray, but you still need to sanitize by way of chlorine bleach. I think that was the topic from the OP.

If there is moisture then you have a good chance for algae which is what the bleach is for no matter if you use antifreeze or not it's for santitation.
